The Astrology of Online Dating: The Danger signs — Warning Bells and Things not so Swell

Danger, danger

Online dating can be a killer — literally, and figuratively.

These days, online dating attracts a lot of men and women with difficult love, and sex natures. Liars and cheaters, are a plenty. And there’s quite a few emotionally, physically, and mentally dis-eased that will really put you through the ringer, if you don’t take care.

Of course, none of us have perfect personalities; however, a dangerous individual is not the same as a moderately flawed one.

Even if your synastry is fabulous, and cancels out strenuous natal behaviors — the moment you stop dating (if that were to happen), watch out. Your loved one may very well revert right back to their OWN chart and the behaviors that come with it.

Draw up a chart on any prospect, and believe what you see — unless you want to test it out.

The squares are frustrated, and block. The opposites vacillate from one end to the other, in a flash — depending on what provoked. Conjunctions can be good or bad, but either way — they’re powerful. The trines are easy, peasy, lazy, and introverted. The sextiles are active, energetic, and extroverted. Read semi’s too. Semi just means half the time, when activated, or less of an effect. Quintiles are a little quirky, a little freaky — maybe even kinky. Sesquares illustrates a lack of maturity, or a disability — physical or emotional therapy may help a lot. Inconjuncts or Quincunxes are a little off-balance, and need to adjust a bit — kind of harmless, in the grande scheme. They also cause aversion.

Every celestial object can become a romance planet or object; however, I find these are the ones that can make the most impact at the get-go:

Moon, Venus, and Mars in aspect to Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Chiron.

Warning bells

Here are some example Deal breakers, in my book. And I’ll add my little quips, as time goes on.

  1. Venus square Pluto Jealous, manipulative, subversive, under cover obsession, insecure. Giving you the love drug, that can only be got from them. Be aware, from the get-go. They’ll make their problems, yours. Giving you everything you ever wanted, at a price. You’ll be intoxicated by them, and don’t ever leave them or revenge (often silent, and can be deadly) is on its way.
  2. Venus opposite Pluto Love, hate. War of the roses. When you’re together, it’s all good but if you ever break up, you’ll experience the hate. A hate you never fathomed they could feel for you. And it will feel extreme, because it’s so out of character. Even if your synastry dissolves or balances out their Venus opp Pluto, once you’ve broken up — they go right back to THEIR chart alone. And now they’re in survival, and self-protection mode. Beware.
  3. Venus square Saturn This can go either way. On the more positive side, it can mean that the person likes a 7+ year age difference, and that might be okay for them, but somehow still cause some friction or overcoming of obstacles to get there. On the warning side — this person can not love. So be sure to invest as little emotionally, as you will, at the get-go or not at all. It will take them a long time, if ever to warm up to you and share their love. There will be crises around an old appearance, etc. and the relationship may never get off the ground.
  4. Venus opposition Saturn You’ve got a great partner, if Venus and Saturn are aspected. But with the opposition, you get a: Now I’m with you, and now I won’t. This native promises to love you, shows you affection, and then takes it away. What you can be left with is cold confusion. And to be fair, the native is just as confused, and also afraid of commitment. They pull back, when things get hard. And they pull back when things are sweet. You will have to have much patience with this person, and bank on it never working out, in the end unless they’re going to do something about their vacillation. Sometimes they want commitment, and sometimes they don’t. The best find is Venus trine, sextile, or even a conjunction to Saturn. These natives accept, and often expect love and relationships to be work, and will work at it for years to come. In some cases, the opposition might reflect a desire for a much younger, or much older partner. Again, one can have their cake and eat it too. Either find a partner who is old, but young at heart. Or young, but old at heart. The oppositions are about integration. I have been doing a little research on this aspect, and I have found it Doing research on love / attachment styles. Watch for Venus opposition Saturn, and Uranus. Need for closeness vs freedom. DISMISSIVE style.  Ask them take the quiz to find out if they’re a Dismissive type partner. Learn more about attachment styles.
  5. Mars square Pluto Are you in for a beating? Verbal, physical, spiritual, emotional or otherwise? These guys and gals can be mean and cold, and make you “pay for it”. It is whatever transgression they think you did, not what you actually did, that will get you into hot water. And are you prepared to submit to an insatiable, and possibly out of norm sexual romp on rough and tumble rocks? This native is going to want to dominate you, to be sure. And not in a nice way.
  6. Mars opposite Pluto No, you can not win with this one. Be prepared to do their bidding. They don’t respect what you want. Only what THEY want. Are you prepared for psychological warfare, that you didn’t see coming? Figuratively, you’ll feel like you were given the date rape drug.
  7. Mars square Neptune They may have an STD, or other partner, major prospect, or love interest they’re not telling you about. They may even cheat on you sexually. But you sure will be in sexual ecstasy — the kind that goes bad, really bad after the dirty deed is done. The kind that makes you want to shower on end. They could be addicted to something that will bring you down in the end. Everything in excess: Drugs, sex, alcohol, and rock and roll. These are your wannabe rock-stars. Want to be a wannabe groupie? And at the end of the day, you might not even get into the promised land hotel room anyway.
  8. Mars opposite Neptune They could fake an orgasm, or lie to you about who else they’re dating.

Pay attention to what houses the planets are in. Is their Mars in the 5th or 7th house or the 3rd or 12th? It will tell you a lot about where and how they manifest these energies.

Lesser effect

These are things to watch out for, but may not be deal breakers.

  1. Moon square Pluto Their emotions are damaging. If it’s a guy, they have mommy / woman issues. They’re unlikely to be a feminist or pro women. They can cut you up, and toy with your emotions — making you feel unworthy, and dirty.
  2. Moon opposite Pluto This one will attempt to manipulate your emotions. At first they’ll collect your feelings, and experiences and coddle you out of the wazzoo. But if you ever do anything to “hurt them”, they’ll use what they learned against you.
  3. Venus square Jupiter They skimp out on love, and cuddles. Don’t expect a lot of, “I love you’s”. These guys and gals are single for a long time, and it’s because they block love. They detract. They’re not sweet. They have an aversion to being lovey dovey. And they can cheat on you romantically.
  4. Venus opposite Jupiter When they love you, it’s over the top. But when they’re not in love with you, but everyone else in the world — yuck, that’s hard to swallow! So keep pulling him back to his or her home turf.
  5. Venus trine Jupiter You can bet this one has a lot of admirers, with no work at all. Unless they have other good aspects, like Venus trine Saturn, watch out. You may have a cheater on your hands. Or you’ll worry too much that they will. These folks can be the Ludus type, playful lovers.
  6. Venus sextile Jupiter If the opportunity presents themselves to shower you with love, like your birthday, they will. They can also attract admirers, but they have to work at it. Keep them happy, and they’ll be loyal to you. These folks can be the Ludus type, playful lovers.
  7. Venus square Neptune They never pick the “right ones,” for them. And you’re not it either. Sorry. So you’ll have to work on making yourself VERY real from the get-go, and not letting them fall into fantasy land. You may not know if what you’re experiencing is real love. And when you feel real love, you may hide it. Or you may pretend that you don’t love them. Or the opposite. This is a tough one to have. Causes much confusion, and uncertainty.
  8. Venus opposite Neptune They thought you were “the one”, but then you do something that turns them off to the reality of imperfection. It’s not you; it’s them. Remind them about how truly “magical” you are, together.
  9. Mars square Uranus These guys and gals get shockingly mad, in a flash. It’s startling. If you’re not the type to agitate, you may be okay. The flame will likely die down, as quickly as it rose. But if you’re a trouble maker yourself, avoid this one.
  10. Mars opposite Uranus
  11. Venus square Uranus They have no problems breaking up with you, in a flash. Don’t give your heart out to this one. Anyway, they usually do you a favor in that they’re not the type you can get close to very easily anyway. But you’re at your own peril, if you push it. Watch out for long distance relationships. These types look for that sort of thing, and it won’t be good for you. An LDR that happens out of the blue, may be okay, but not when they have this aspect. In synastry it can be fine such as one of you being traveling in your work, but it’s also something to pay attention to.
  12. Venus opposite Uranus The on and off again romance. Now you see me, now you don’t. Love at a distance. Love close, at hand. These natives, are unsure of what they want. Do they want love (Leo), or freedom (Aquarius)? Sometimes they’re like a Venus Aquarius, and other times a Venus in Leo. You don’t know whether to be warm and fuzzy with them, proclaiming your love or cool and distant, having some cool and analytical friendly conversations. The oppositions need to learn that they can have BOTH, but they need to harmonize, and sympathize with their partner. Your prospective date might be the DISMISSIVE style.  Ask them take the quiz to find out if they’re a Dismissive type partner. Learn more about attachment styles.

Something to think about

  1. Venus square or opposite Chiron Love does not heal them. Love hurts them, and you’re the lover that’s going to or is hurting them.
  2. Mercury square Mars They’re ornery. Not very kindly. You’re going to get a lot of negative chatter out of this one. They especially don’t get along well with men, in conversation.
  3. Mercury square Saturn They are not good  at keeping secrets or serious conversation. Bad combo.
  4. Mercury square Venus They especially don’t know how to get along with women, in conversation. They’re communication style is irritating, and not smooth.
  5. Moon square Venus They don’t know how to comfort you.
  6. Venus square Mars They can easily fight or cause friction with their partner. They don’t have a good handle on their yin and yang.
  7. Venus opposition Mars They don’t have a good handle on what they want, out of relating.

With Saturn it either means the thing will get off the ground, or it won’t. Not much to worry about there, at the start. But down the road, Saturn is the “glue” as they say. So if that isn’t doing well, your relationship may not last. As can be seen, finding “the one” is tricky business. Good luck, and God speed.

Note

I’m sorry dear reader if you have any of these aspects, and I’ve painted your dating and romance life, poorly. I’ve noted the “dark” side of challenging aspects, and not how they can be overcome or be positive. It takes a very well-adjusted, self-improvement oriented person, to get beyond these aspects. And for those that don’t have these aspects, but see them in your prospect — they may have overcome the challenges, but what if they haven’t? Do you want to spend time fiddling with their issues? You know astrology, or can get an astrology reading — use it to your dating advantage. While I’m willing to work with a little spice, my Venus Virgo wants a break from these fixer uppers. I can take maybe one or two of them IF they have some good aspects like Moon-Venus-Mercury and Venus-Saturn in good aspect. Otherwise, I’m not interested as I’ve tested these aspects out enough to know their chart is right. And if you’re a native, with a difficult aspect, maybe fess up at the start of dating someone you like. Let them know what love / romance / dating challenges you face, and you might find it helps you out a lot. Let them know your love attachment, and style!

Extra

If I have the time or inclination, I can tell you how to find someone compatible to you online. A little tip, for now: Sun, Venus, in good aspect, and in synastry are good ideas. So if your Sun is a Taurus, search for a Venus Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, Scorpio, Pisces, or Cancer. How do you do that, since Sun signs are all that are shown? Each planet takes awhile to get into gear, and you take into account the preferred Sun sign of your partner too. So there are only so many Virgo Suns with Scorpio Venus in the age range you desire to date. So you check the ephemeris for the years you want to check, and find that combination or Venus. An easier way may be looking at a past loves good Venus, and using their year of birth to find the one for you online. You can change up the Sun sign with that too.

And if you can find out their Moon, that is helpful too. So if your Venus is in Aries, search for a partner with a Moon in Sag, Leo, or Aries — which can be just as good as a Sun connection, though not as powerful. Moons in the same element, or exact same sign are amazing for feeling secure. A Moon synastry conjunction is quite powerful. As powerful as the Sun!

Free Horary Questions by Astrologer: Horary is a Specialized Branch of Astrology

FREE Horary Questions from a STUDENT of Horary

Horary answers your question. Horary loves answering a yes or no question. However, horary can offer an explanation and detail around your question. Horary can also provide advice. Horary is very rule based. You and I must follow its rules, for an accurate judgement (answer) to occur. And coolest thing ever – it doesn’t require a human being’s birth details!! The birth details are that of the question!

Horary is similar to getting a tarot reading; however, it is a) finite, b) takes more time and effort to answer one question, but then you get a lot more out of it too, and c) the judgement is final – you can only ask your question once – no fooling this oracle!

You’ve really got to be brave and bold to receive a horary answer, because the results are often in-your-face brutal! No Neptunian (tarot) wishy washy, sugar coating (by the way, I love tarot — I wrote a book on it). This is SATURN’s domain! Harsh. Inflexible. Testing. Taunting. Taming. Teaching.

Horary results, as what I find with astrology (in general), are destiny based. So while you might have a small amount of free will — I believe that freewill is finite. If astrology wasn’t destiny based, I think the whole concept of it — would collapse.

As a side note: I took up horary when Urania made a partile conjunction to my natal Urania. Or was that the time she presented me with the situation that would plummet me into horary (I’ll check again later)? The last time she did that, I delved very deeply into natal and synastry astrology. After lamenting over a failed and distressing life event — Tweeter, LouiseOfArabia suggested that I do a horary reading; thank you. But I knew NOTHING about how to read with horary, and frankly it seemed like a daunting and timely endeavor (it is) that I never seemed to make time or energy for. Well, as with what happened last time — I was plunged into it. Of note, I finished my major studies of horary as I began them — on the Moon in Gemini around 18° — which is the Moon & ° of the native of said life event. And it is a full Moon, tomorrow. Ha! Everything happens for a reason. No coincidences in astrology or life! Just can’t make this stuff up!!

And in both cases, it helped me find closure to the distressing events! Go Astrology!!!! :D And *bow* to the cosmos.

Please excuse my Saturn

  • While I’m a professional astrologer, I’m a student of Horary. As of December 16, 2013 (Almost full Moon Gemini, now @ 18°53’28” – declination 19°33’07” *)- I’ve spent the last two months, over 200 charts, and over 400 hours studying horary. It is NOT simple or easy – at least not for me. It’s very Saturnian, and rule based. Not a lot of winging it, is accepted or helpful. Horary is traditional (Saturn) astrology, and not the modern (Uranus) kind, that I usually practice. I will likely make mistakes. Take my judgement with a grain of salt. If you don’t like the judgement, ignore it. If you want your question handled professionally, consult an expert.
  • Currently, I’m answering questions about lost inanimate objects and love. My professional practice is focused on love, in general. I have a fully aspected Venus (except for Mercury — because I need to be Aries there!! :D Aries is on my 3rd house cusp, but Mercury is in Virgo conjunct SN and in the 8th)
  • I will choose the questions I want to answer. Just because you left a comment (with your question), doesn’t mean you’ll get an answer to your question. Don’t attempt to appeal to my emotions. I will close the FREE option, whenever I desire to do so (and likely without warning). Eventually I will charge for this service, and eventually it will be a lot (understandably).
  • The chart may not be readable. I reserve the right not to offer an explanation for it — no time.
  • I reserve the right to refuse your question, and not offer an explanation for it — no time.
  • I will use a number of different horary methods. I reserve the right not to tell you which one, or how I’ve arrived at a yes or no answer. Again, it usually comes down to time. So while you might see me explaining one chart, I may not explain another. I’m kind of flakey like that.
  • If I post the chart, I’m happy for ANYONE to offer a horary comment on it. If it’s a negative comment about my judgement, do have some respect for yourself and consider how your criticism is coming across to me and others.

What do I need to do to get this free horary reading with Abella, so that it’s as accurate as possible?

  1. You must contact me (regarding this horary question) ONLY on my blog, in a comment (associated with this blog post). Not on Twitter, Facebook, email, or anywhere else. I may allow location to be privately messaged. ASK.
  2. There is an option to do the horary, when the astrologer comes to understand the question (and base the birth details on that — but I’m not there yet! :)
  3. This must be YOUR question — not about someone else. It can not be a question you’ve asked horary before. You’ve got ONE shot at your question. Form it well.
  4. The birth details of the question: Month, day, year, location, time when you came to understand your question clearly.
  5. Some background information surrounding your question.
  6. Patience and gratitude.  Do provide a follow-up to the horary judgement given.

Gratitude

What is gratitude? Gratitude is showing appreciation, and acknowledging help given — through tangible actions. I’m BIG on giving and receiving gratitude! And it inspires me to keep giving, for free. Part of the word gratitude is Gratis, meaning free or without charge. I’m BIG on people having an attitude of freely giving (without thought on what they get in return) if that is not their default pattern, or if they think they have nothing to give (you do, by the way — stock up on some self-esteem as it’s good for you and everyone around you). I can’t tell you how much I despise takers, really. Can’t. I’m the exact, extreme opposite. I’ve got Sagittarius on my 12th, with Jupiter Libra in the 9th. Though I’ve been learning to take more (…especially considering most people are takers. So this is a positive approach to that). Neither extremes are good, in my opinion.

Gratitude balances things out. I give. You take. You give. I take.

How can you show me your gratitude? Promote my work, websites, blog. Add me to your Twitter list. Join my Facebook page. Provide reviews. Retweet. Share. Etc. Recommend me to friends, followers, clients, and wallowers (it rhymed, so i had to but it’s not even a word, I think! LOL). Purchase an astrology session (Because you’re worth it, and because I’m worth it). Engage me. Share with me. Care about me.

These are just a spattering of ways you can show your gratitude.

I help people, for free, even though I do this professionally (for a living, a scant living — at that). I help people, for free, because I want you to benefit from my experience and wisdom. I help people. for free, because those of us that can’t afford — should get the help, so they can. I help people, for free, because I love sharing. I help people, for free, because they’ve helped me.

Patience

It may seem like I have a lot of time on my hands, but I don’t.  I multi-task, and I really ought to spend more time on making money. Oh Saturn in Taurus, say it ain’t so?! I dream of having a personal assistant, no kidding! Oh, and I’m popular! Wonder why. Oh, I’m really generous with my time and wisdom and I’m usually quite friendly, sociable, and approachable (unless a line has been crossed!). That’d do it! LOL – Also see Sagittarius on the 11th, with Jupiter Libra in the 9th. You’re not the only one in my world — there are hundreds upon hundreds, at least! hehe Many of whom do attempt to have a one-on-one private connection and often inappropriately. Consider THAT! ;P

So, please know that it might take some time to provide a judgement, if I’ve offered one. I’m happy though for kindly reminders, after an appropriate length of time has gone by. :D Note: Less is more, to too-busy people. I am more (writing), but you need to be less (writing) or I will get overwhelmed and tune out! ;P

Horary Questions

Choose only ONE question, from below (remember that I might not answer it). I’m currently only answering questions on the topics below. You can copy and paste the question in your comment, along with the birth (of the question) and background details., Remember, less is more. Keep your writing tight, and clear. Don’t make me think too much. My head is full enough! LOL

IMPORTANT

  1. Make sure your question is important and meaningful to you.
  2. Don’t ask something you’ve already pondered too much (you already have an idea about the outcome), or not enough (too early to tell).
  3. Provide some detail, to put your question into context or for me to watch out for related “strictures” — things I need to consider or not consider, depending upon the background of your question.

For love horaries, you can add your zodiac sun signs — if you like, but it’s unnecessary.

Lost Objects Horary:

Tell me what X is, and how long it’s been missing.

  • Where is X? (X is the lost inanimate object)

Love Horary:

You don’t need to tell me who X is though an initial or initials would be nice. My preference is for questions that will have a known outcome over the next couple of weeks. Why? Because I would like to know if my judgement was accurate or not. Remember, I’m a student of horary. :D

  • Will X come back, by (include date)?
  • Will I see X again, by X (include date)?
  • Is X cheating on me?
  • Did X cheat on me?
  • Does X love me?
  • Will X & I be friends?
  • Will X and I marry?
  • Will X and I have a relationship?
  • Will X and I divorce?
  • Will I have a relationship by (include date)?
  • Will I find love in the next (insert number of weeks, months)?
  • Will X call me by (include date)?
  • Will my partner be rich?
  • Is X dating someone else me?
  • What does X think about?
  • What does X feel for me?
  • Is X thinking about me?
  • Will X like my letter, email, phone message (insert communication type)?
  • Is my relationship with X, over?
  • Is X the right person for me?
  • Does X want me back?
  • Will X and I have sex (sex again)?
  • Does X miss me?
  • What is the outcome of dating X?
  • What will my next romantic partner be like, look like?

YMMV

Do what you will.

VOC: Why will “Nothing will come of this”? What’s this about void-of-course Moons?

VOC Moons (What’s up with all that?): Why shouldn’t you start something new during a VOC Moon? I’m thinking it’s as simply as this: Because you won’t be putting enough “energy” into it.

I generally feel incredibly lazy, for a normally highly productive state, during VOC’s. I simply don’t want to do ANYTHING but vegetate. Try as I might to do otherwise. Especially during a Waxing VOC Moon…

Energy is matter. Matter is money. Money matters. Energy matters. Energy is matter. Matter is manifestation. Manifesting matters. Energy matters. Energy is matter. Energy is matter. Matter is a corporeal being. A human being matters. Energy matters. Energy is matter.

The VOC Moon is unaspected, and therefore is receiving NO energy, impetus, or sparks of initiation.

If you don’t put “energy” into anything, you can’t really get anything out of it, which is likely why astrologers refer to Lily as suggesting that,
“Nothing will come of this,” during a VOC Moon.
Mystery (for myself) solved.
Nothing to be superstitious about.

However, I will say this: I still firmly believe in — whatever is supposed to happen, happens. Right now, is right for now. Nothing is ever a waste of time. etc…

So if you do do anything during a VOC, it was meant to happen. See how your story plays out, and work with it darlings.

Looking to Jupiter
03-27-2008, 10:31 PM

The reason why I have been so keen to actually find Lilly’s wording in the book, is because it was brought to my attention yesterday, by a very reputable astrologer, that he doesnt actually say that nothing will come of the matter.

Lilly states
“All manner of matters goe hardly on (except the principall significators be very strong) when the moon is void of course; yet somewhat she performs if void of course, and be either in Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces.”

Now personally, I think this reputable astrologer is totally right. It says nothing of the sort that the void of course moon, means nothing will come of the matter.

The first thing I think of when reading this Old English, is the phrase, “To be hardly done by”. Meaning in fact, to have had a hard time with something. Like this astrologer mentioned to me by email yesterday, (I’m not sure I can say who this astrologer was, as they dont know I am writing this:confused:), I think it is actually saying in Lilly’s text that, that the void of course moon, will actually make the situation queried about, hard. Are we infact, by saying that nothing will come of the matter, making decisions for the querent? It may be, that some folk will decide to not go ahead with doing something because of the struggle they may have with the matter, but I dont think it is our decision.

I wanted to find out more about the wording of this term “goe hardly”, because I think now a days, we are have read the term “hardly”, to mean “barely”, which I have found to be wrong.

I refer you to something I found on line at “Answers.com” ( I need to go and check this information again from another source), but I think we have a significant problem here.

Middle English hardli, from Old English heardlīce, harshly, bravely, from heard, hard. See hard (http://www.answers.com/topic/hard).]USAGE NOTE In Standard English, hardly, scarcely, and similar adverbs cannot be used with a negative. The sentence I couldn’t hardly see him, for instance, is not acceptable. This violation of the double negative rule is curious because these adverbs are not truly negative in meaning. The sentence Mary hardly laughed means that Mary did laugh a little, not that she kept from laughing altogether, and therefore does not express a negative proposition. But adverbs like hardly and scarcely do share some important features of negative adverbs, even though they may not have purely negative meaning. For one thing, they combine with any and at all, which are characteristically associated with negative contexts. Thus we say I hardly saw him at all or I never saw him at all but not I occasionally saw him at all. Similiarly, we say I hardly had any time or I didn’t have any time but not I had any time and so on. Like other negative adverbs, hardly triggers inversion of the subject and auxiliary verb when it begins a sentence. Thus we say Hardly had I arrived when she left on the pattern of Never have I read such a book or At no time has he condemned the movement. Other adverbs do not cause this kind of inversion. We would not say Occasionally has he addressed this question or To a slight degree have they changed their position. The fact is that adverbs such as hardly can be said to have a negative meaning in that they minimize the state or event they describe. Thus hardly means “almost not at all”; rarely means “practically never”; and so forth. This is why they cannot be used with another negative such as not or none. See Usage Notes at double negative, rarely, scarcely.

Now as you can see, modern usage of the word hardly, refers to rarely, scarcely. But if you note, in old english terminology, the term actually means harshly, bravely. Which actually brings the modern translation of Lilly, that nothing will come of the matter, to being a total fabrication.

hardly

• adverb 1 scarcely; barely. 2 only with great difficulty. 3 no or not (suggesting surprise at or disagreement with a statement).

Please note, the second meaning of the word “only with great difficulty”.
I think it is presumptious of us, to assume that the term only means, that nothing will come of the matter, when this meaning also exists. We are not doing querents a service, in telling them that nothing will come of the matter, when in fact we should be telling them things could happen with great difficulty

The way Deb Houlding explained it to me was, besides the Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson “nothing will come of the matter” context, that the void of course moon describes a ‘lapse of energy’, wherein nothing can move forward because there is not strength or power available to move it; much like the wind suddenly going out of a boat’s sails. When the Moon leaves VOC, the wind suddenly puffs the sails out again. (This is how I view it in my mind, at least.)Cheers,

On a public post on Facebook, Tamara Innerpowerastro explains it like this:

Abella, here is my analogy about driving a car (or train) for the Void moon: When the moon is making aspects you are driving with direction, and possibly speed. You know where you are going and you heading there; you’re more focused, less distracted.
When it goes void, its like your car has slipped into neutral, you can’t make turns and you’re certainly not driving with direction anymore. Maybe you enter another lane unexpectedly and end up in another city. Hopefully you don’t drive off the traintracks! or off the road into a ditch! lol

Anyway, if you accumulated enough speed and directional focus while the moon was NOT void, you could theoretically continue “coasting” into the void moon phase, at least in the beginning of it.
But if you START a project while the moon is in Void phase, you will likely start the ignition while in a ditch or off the road and it will be very difficult to get back on the road and out of “neutral”.

I usually post the Void moon phases on my fanpage & twitter for those who follow it, and I encourage readers to work/accomplish according to this schedule. I certainly do. And there seem to be a lot of “voids” over the next week in the EST time zone.

Your Two Week Horoscope (June 21st to July 4th, 2013) by Toronto Astrologer, Abella Arthur

Your Two Week Horoscope

AriesAries: You will meet your match very soon while enjoying fun in the sun. Widening your relationships and connections become a hot priority for you.

TaurusTaurus: Contemplating new enterprises and adventures troubles you some. Don’t give up what you already have. Expansion, rather than contraction is likely.

GeminiGemini: Your mind has been on the go — racing with thoughts. After a lot of mental tension, and growth, you’ll receive a much needed rest from your brain; however, you’ll keep moving social butterfly.

CancerCancer: On June 22, the Sun enters the sign of Cancer. Happy Birthday! Mercury is also retrograde in your sign on the 26th, so this means you’ll take time out to re-evaluate where and whom to offer your support. Charitable and volunteer service is a possibility as it builds your passion for community. Also, enjoy Jupiter coming into your sign on the 30th. There might be new family or old family coming back. Your home, and family expands.

LeoLeo: Your artistic and love opportunities are beginning to bloom. You’re being shown the light, out of the dark. Reach towards it, and gain much needed additional resources.

VirgoVirgo: A position of authority is offered to you. You might take just because you were asked to do it; however, you would rather work behind the scenes unnoticed. This isn’t quite your time to shine yet.

LibraLibra: Many want your attention, and you’re attempting to fend off questions about your next move. Instead of allowing others to overwhelm your energy, tell people they’re going to have to wait for your answer.

ScorpioScorpio: You’re faced with a choice of what you know, and something new – what’s the sweeter deal? A destined teacher of sorts comes into your life – welcome them in.

SagittariusSagittarius: Expanding your horizons and being on the move, is what would make you feel most comfortable right now but there is a feeling of being stuck and powerless – without a voice to move forward.

CapricornCapricorn: Pack your bags for an unknown adventure. Don’t think too much about it, just get out there and bust a move.

AquariusAquarius: This is a great time to help your fellow man out by doing some social activism, a fundraiser, or physical activity. Meeting with friends offers refreshing new ideas.

PPiscesisces: Seek or offer comfort from or to a broken soul, due to spiritual or financial loss. The next little while will tax your emotional reserves. Keep your calm and balance when the world spins around you.

Astrology: The 2nd House of WORTH

When we know the language of astrology, we can all be gurus…

All language is divine, and astrology is no different. Astrology is essentially a bible of sorts.  A way to live. A guiding path or light, in dark days.

The second house has the sign of Taurus, ruled by Venus on its house cusp. Taurus is part of the element of Earth and it closely connects to Saturn (Capricorn), and Virgo (Vesta).

To learn more about the 2nd house, check out my full length article on the different aspects and themes.

We connect money to worth because money is one possible result of spending time (Saturn) and effort (Virgo/Vesta, sacrificial hard work).

Some people who have low self-esteem, low self-worth, or with the tendency of placing others above or before them — may give a lot of their time and effort (Taurean Venus-Saturn investment) without an equal level of return (money, love, appreciation, etc. — all 2nd house, Taurus, Venus themes), and when that happens — they feel used (ie Venus Square Saturn) and can give less (ie less love, 2nd house, Taurus, Venus themes). So people with low self-esteem, low self-worth, etc. may ALSO be takers, or become takers.

Many people are judged by much they are worth.

And your value can be based on a number of factors such as: How much money you have, who you know, and your status. But it can also be based on ROI – Return on Investment (eh, maybe business school was worth it after all! :P) — what potential you have to give back, or what you give back when someone else invests in you.

In my opinion — a smart, emotionally detached, and conscious person would say: If I put my time, and effort (and maybe money and other resources) into X — what are the chances that I will get anything back from X?

I don’t ask that question enough — maybe because the answer might not be what I want to discover.

When a person is of good stock or character, the ROI is often high.

Sometimes you will lose (giving to others), and sometimes you will gain (taking from others) — but in the end, when there’s a healthy give and take (Libra, Venus) — all are usually happy. And if you can’t give, you can’t truly love (Venus, 2nd House).

So when someone thinks you’re unworthy, they are saying that they think they’ll get less out of you, then they put into you — like a bank account (Taurus) that earns interest or not.

And if you think you’re unworthy, it may be because you do not give of your time, effort, and/or resources while taking what is not yours to really receive.

In that case, it would be true — that yes, you are indeed unworthy in that situation, event, circumstance, or as it relates to that person (as in — within a relationship) but only because you’ve made it a point to take rather than give.

And that’s how you can gain self-esteem and self-worth — by giving to others, without the thought of receiving, if you are historically a taker.

Because givers, who feel upset about others not appreciating what they give, actually DO have good self-worth and understand their value is high. That is unless the act of constant giving, and not taking — wears down on their own self-esteem and sense of value.

So the lesson of givers is to be in balance by taking a trip over to the 8th house (Pluto, Scorpio, who is co-ruled by Mars) — where they learn to accept and encourage people to give of their resources to them! They can also be in balance by giving to themselves, through the 2nd house.

The old saying goes: You need to spend money, to make money.
So you need to give, to get.
And if you are already giving, without getting — STOP.

You’ve spent too much, and profits will be slim or non-existent!

And if you’re getting, without giving and vice versa — there’s a cost to such an opportunity.

Eventually what you get, is going to dry up and you will also lose the opportunity of enjoying genuine self-esteem and self-worth. Or your self-worth and self-esteem will plummet, if you’ve been traditionally a giver.

So make the right decision.

Balance out your 2nd-8th opposition.

If you have been a taker, learn to give. Spend more, conserve less.

If you have been a giver, learn to take.  Spend less, conserve more.

Namaste.

Part 2: Marriage Around the Zodiac: Part 2: Marriage Around the Zodiac: Being Married — Married Life – Houses 8-12

What the cosmos (Planets, Stars, God, Gods, Goddesses, etc) teach us about being ready for, getting, and being married — through astrology!

Part 2: Marriage Around the Zodiac: Getting and being Married – Houses 8-12
See Marriage Around the Zodiac: Part 1, Initiating & Developing Desire for Getting Married – Houses 1-7

In the 8th (Scorpio, Pluto) house — “till death do us part”… where a bond and undying love exists….

This is where a marriage or partnership transforms or destroys your psyche, finances, physical, and psychological health. This is the house where we learn dive deeply into all matters that develop or remove us.

Your marriage is consummated (ah, so maybe sex happens BEFORE the honeymoon?!), and explore sex with another person within the intimate bond that gets even deeper. Here, you create your wills, and change insurance policies with your new benefactor.  Bank accounts may be joined, or a decision made on how resources are spent. Secrets are shared, and a transformation of psyche with our loved one — desired.

The 8th house is also the place where issues around who controls what, is determined.  But before we get into the thick of all that, we tally up all the money received from our wedding from both sides of the fence.

Then in the 9th (Sagittarius, Jupiter) house, the house of long distance travel, spirituality, philosophy, religion, justice, foreign things, etc — we take that “wedding money” that are friends from far and wide gave to us as presents, and we go off on a honeymoon!

Here we learn more about our partner’s deeper thoughts, and our spiritual life together.

In the 10th (Capricorn, Saturn), we come back from our honeymoon, and introduce ourselves to the world-at-large.  We are now accepted as a unit to be taken seriously.  We did IT. And it’s an exciting time! Our Mother or Father (whoever is represented by our 10th house) may feel a sense of detachment, or loss at this time — as the parental recognition understands that we are about to embark on creating our own family separate from our biological one. Here, we, as a couple, begin to create our “shared identity” and explore and share our roles for society to know of.

In the 11th (Aquarius, Uranus), we begin building mutual friendships, make new contacts with service providers, and associations that support our new relationship status. We think of our hopes and dreams, and we seek out those who will support us and them. With all this couples work, we might also start to remind ourselves of our past independent life, dreams, and causes we had before marriage. Are they shared with our partner? Have they changed? Do they still exist? If not, do I want them to? The honeymoon period begins its end in the 11th!

In the 12th (Pisces, Neptune), we may hide our disappointments and sorrow for what what had hoped would work out, but didn’t. We feel lost. Marriage may feel confining — like we can’t breathe. Have we lost our identity? Who are we separately, and as a couple? We take some time out. We may not connect as much with our mate. We may hide our feelings, and thoughts of disillusionment and despair. We may feel shame or guilt for not having the same feelings that we had previously, or for potentially hurting our mate. We may consider divorce, but have no readiness for it. Should I stay, or should I go? We may bury ourselves in escapes, so we don’t have to deal with these serious questions, just yet.

Stay tuned for Part 3: Around the bend again

Starting with the first house, where we FIND OURSELVES AGAIN! And hopefully renew our commitments, and vows. Until next time…

Cosmic Weather Horoscope: May 24th to June 6th, 2013 by Abella Arthur, Astrologer

(Covers Friday May 24th to June 6th)

“Cosmic Weather”

by Abella Arthur

“Abella Arthur has practiced astrology for over 20 years. She is available for private consultations and parties — putting the cosmos into a personal perspective for you and your loved ones.”

On the 21st, the Sun (self, ego, personality, and the center) entered the sign of Gemini (thought, duality, communication, factoids, variety, brilliance, and interests). Happy Birthday Gemini!

While the next door neighbor of Gemini — Taurus (the sign of security, stability, tenacity, sensuality, artistry, and nature), ruled by Venus (the planet of love, money, beauty, etc.) — is no longer basking in the Sun’s rays, it’s not quite ready to move on yet.

Mars is in the sign of Taurus (April 21 to May 31), and the fixed star Algol, is still in Taurus (currently at 26 degrees) for hundreds of years to come.

(To learn more about Algol, visit: http://blog.virgovault.com/2012/10/02/fixed-star-algol-25-taurus-sexual-emotional-psychological-drives-heterosexual-men-algol)

On the 24th, the planet of war, sex, sports, masculinity, assertiveness, and action — Mars, begins to socialize with, and explore what is known as the most evil star in the cosmos, Algol, for the next couple of weeks.

Algol connects to the myth of Perseus and the gorgon, Medusa, wherein it becomes Perseus’ task to slay the monster’s head. After accomplishing this task, he uses it to fight evil, and wrong-doing. Algol resides in the third eye (collective conscious) of Medusa’s head.

This period of cosmic weather may suggest an aggressive stance against things such as alcohol, brutality, sexual force, fighting, and competition. It may also be a time where the people will feel the desire to unusually assert their collective voice against any destructive and damaging actions taken; however, be sure you’re not the one attempting to do destroy or damage — to win at all costs. In fact, there may be an element of “damage control” that a large organization will play out.

Alongside Mars tied to Algol, the 24/25th of May has us experiencing the emotional and just impact of a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius (the higher mind, long distance travel, law, and religion).

As a society, we are on the road to no longer being able to bear witness to the atrocities of helpless victims, and choose to put an end to abuse of all kinds — with aggressive completion of new educational programs, laws, wide-spread philosophies, and traveling ministry.

This upcoming period of time is one of activism, and sharing the truth of damaged goods.

Your Bi-Weekly Horoscope:

Aries: Sudden breakthroughs. You’re considering your options and choices. You’ll hold on to what you have, for sure. But you’re also making a decision on whether to grab on to something new. It’s completely up to you.

Taurus: You’ve worked really hard to achieve a state of self-sufficiency, but now it’s hard to let anyone in for fear of being beaten up, and badgered. Be good to yourself, and be good to others. Open up with caution.

Gemini: In your world, there are three sides to every story: Yours, theirs, and the “watcher”. The watcher is your mental subconscious, making judgment. Let it poke around and listen well to what it says.

Cancer: A new idea comes to mind regarding moving forward on a long held dream. You know it’s going to take some tough and serious work, and you are likely to be met with objection. Forge ahead anyway.

Leo: It’s time to get out, socialize, and celebrate all that life has to offer. Dust off some of your hobbies, and take them for a spin. An interesting Gemini may grab your attention. Re-ignite your engine. Do a happy dance.

Virgo: Balance your mind by emptying those excessive details swimming around your head.  Water will soothe and refresh your mind. Go for a swim, take a nice bath, or a trip to the spa. Dirty thoughts will wash away.

Libra: Your support is being tapped by more people than usual. It’s hard to say no, but if you plan on getting everything done – you’ll want to. If you keep saying yes, don’t look up or ahead — it will likely depress.

Scorpio: Your past is catching up to you. Things you didn’t let go of, are coming back to haunt. Try to let go this time around – your karmic debt will receive a cleansing, and you’ll be freer to regenerate and renew.

Sagittarius: You may sense a tug of war, and that the world isn’t quite right. But you know how to look at the bright side. Remember to remove yourself from the nattering of lower minds, and seek higher ground.

Capricorn: A reunion of sorts is coming up, and you’re thinking about sweet old memories. Family — whether biological, business, or extended — is very important to you at this time.  Let them all know how much!

Aquarius:  The universe wants you to experience another side of yourself. Take a cue from your astrological opposite, Leo. Smile, enjoy the warm weather, and get personal with your peers at every opportunity.

Pisces: Big hug to you! You’re going through some stressful times right now, your mother is on your mind, and it’s hard to sleep. It’s no wonder it’s difficult to make sense of what’s happening. Stop the thought, not the spot.

After completing my horoscope column, I did a little search, and found a sports figure (Mars) is going on an emotional walk (Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sag) called The Orange Movement to fight sexual child abuse in the law (Moon Sag, Algol). Former NHL star Theo Fleury was sexually abused (Mars-Algol) by a hockey coach. He will finish the walk on May 23rd, one day before Mars Conjuncts Algol and the Full Moon in Sag eclipses — making a major transitional hit upon unacceptable abuse in our society, especially upon unsuspecting and helpless victims.

Note that Fleury started his walk on the 14th, just a day (as is the case for Mars-Algol) before the Sun Conjunct Algol! What great timing!!

Venus & Money: Where’s your Venus? Who do you make money from?

Wherever your Venus is, represents who pays you or who you make money from.

  1. Where’s your Venus?
  2. What house does Venus reside?

Venus primarily rules Taurus, and co-rules Libra (who is primarily ruled by Juno).

  • Venus is in my 8th house, and on my 9th and 4th.
  • I make money from my contractors (their skills), in my business.  I also make money from spiritual seekers, and learners! And eventually I’ll make money from publishers, of my writing. :D

The 8th house is about other people’s resources, amongst other things. It’s also the house of business.

Also note where your Neptune is (higher form of Venus).  Mine is in the 10th. I’ve received anonymous donations (don’t’ get too excited — small amounts!! haha), for example. The 10th is the general public.

Quickly…

In or on the 1st – You make money from yourself. Entrepreneurship, or self-employment where YOU do the job (being a contractor).

In or on the 2nd – You make money from money (investments, banking, real estate, etc). Also by people who have an artistic nature (collectors) and value (wealthy people).

In or on the 3rd – You make money from neighbors, siblings, co-workers. Also by people who do a lot of short distance traveling, and people who like short term learning (workshops, tutoring).

In or on the 4th – You make money from your parents — Mom and/or Dad. Ancestral skills, or financial help (especially connected to your living space). You make money from the people who live in your home (such as renters).

In or on the 5th – You make money from gambling, your children, your hobbies, close friends, dates, or risk taking.

In or on the 6th – You make money from your employer, or various employers. You make money from people concerned about their health (physically sick people), or daily life.

In or on the 7th – You make money from your partnerships, or committed romantic partner (ie, your spouse).

In or on the 8th – You make money from other people’s resources and skills — usually from business, taxes, or inheritance. People who use their skills to directly make you money in your business.

In or on the 9th – You make money from a church, spiritual seekers, pursuit of higher knowledge, students and teachers, your writing (publishers)…

In or on the 10th – You make money from the masses — the general public. This often comes in the form of royalties or passive income. Welfare, is one example. Being the head of a company, is another.

In or on the 11th – You make money from friends, associates, and networks such as BIA’s, networking functions, local business centers. Would get campaign or fundraising money. As well as your wishful thinking.  The Secret — power of positive thinking! Making money from the universal mind, or just the universe!

In or on the 12th – You make money from institutions such as prisons, psychiatric, or medical facilities. You make money from the mentally or spiritually wounded, and the hidden (anonymous or locked up and disenfranchised people). You make money from charities — as in, also receiving charity.

Please help this list be more specific by adding which house your VENUS resides, and who you make money from. :)

Marriage Around the Zodiac: Part 1, Initiating & Developing Desire for Getting Married – The Houses

What the cosmos (Planets, Stars, God, Gods, Goddesses, etc) teach us about being ready for, getting, and being married — through astrology!

Part 1

Marriage starts in the house of self, the first house (Aries, Mars). This is the house where we learn to express ourselves, get our needs met, and figure out, “What do I want”? We also develop a style through our clothes, mannerisms, and how we sound that will attract our ideal partner. A good head on our shoulders, will take us far. And the physically fitter, active, and assertive you are — the more ease you’ll have in finding a partner.

Then in the 2nd house (Taurus, Venus) we build our resources (financial, and physical), as well as develop our self-esteem and values. This is the house where we learn to love and value ourselves, and what we own — a necessity for co-existing healthily with another (Libra, Venus). This is also the house of self-sex. Sex with ourselves.

This leads us to the third house — the house of communication and short distance traveling.

Often, if you’re interested in getting married — it’s a good idea to have frequent visits, with prospects, closer to home as long distance relationships (9th house) often fall through, or don’t go through a healthy dose of face-time (Gemini, Mercury). We also often a lot of talking or communicating as we learn about the other.

Meeting online (element of air) such as email, Twitter, Facebook, a personal ad site; at a coffee shop; taking a walk in our neighborhood; having blind-dates that our match maker siblings, co-workers, and neighbors set us up with; and getting to know people in your hood are all ways to increase visibility and communication with marriage prospects. You might even introduce your prospects to 3rd house people (who didn’t match make you) such as your siblings, neighbors, co-workers, etc. — to get the Yay or Nay.

In the 4th (Cancer, Moon),  you start spending time with a prospect in your home — where you can show a bit of your character and background, photos, memorabilia, artifacts, be in your natural surroundings, and relax. This might also be a time where you’ll introduce a prospect to your parents — overlapping the 5th.

As you spend more time in each other’s natural surroundings, you become closer (5th house) and might end up dating. This is where you take the risk of falling head over heels in love with someone.  You enjoy little getaways, recreational pursuits, hobbies together, and you take a gamble on your romance. But here, everything is happy and fun.  You feel a little silly, and kind of like a kid again — with butterflies in your stomach!

In the 6th, you get to learn about each other’s daily work and health habits. This is the house that will make or break your relationship.  This is the house of “no fun”.  It is the house of what has to get done — what’ you’ll bother or not bother to get done. You ask yourself: Do we have the same or a similar lifestyle? Can I live and sleep with this person? Is that quirk (Aquarius, exalted in Mercury), bad habit, or ritual (Vesta) going to annoy (Virgo) me down the road?

Between the 6th and 7th houses, a couple may negotiate living conditions. And it’s here where each person decides if how the other person lives is a better or worst way to go. You’ll either find co-operation or you won’t.

Even if you don’t have the same recreational pursuits — if you feel like your boyfriend or girlfriend can mirror or reflect (Libra, 7th house) your own habits — you’ll feel like you’ve found the one. You say to yourself: Our two, is actually a one — we’re two peas in a pod. We are in synch, and are a harmonious couple. Our vibrations are raised through our similarities. You both say:  Through marriage, we will become stronger and we will be a unified force — creating a committed and loving partnership (Libra, Venus) that will ease our personal struggle and further our independent ambitions (Aries, 1st house — opposite the 7th) of shared mutual goals.

Stay tuned for Part 2: Marriage Around the Zodiac: Getting and being Married – The Houses (8-12, then around the bend again… Part 3)

Astrology: The Divine Language of the Gods.

I think of astrology as a language.

Astrology is a direct and divine language of the Gods — how the cosmos speak to humans and vice versa.

I’m an translator (interpreter), and teacher of this symbolic language.

I’m more arts, than science focused.

While astrology is a language, the charts erected contain many volumes of books with astrological chapters, paragraphs, sentences, and words.

It can take years, or months to read a whole chart — minutes, and seconds to read part of it.

Natal astrology describes the native, and the potential opportunities and challenges they shall face, face, and have faced.

The natal and progressed chart is your operating and repair manual. Every machine enjoys maximum success with one.

The solar return (and other predictive charts) and transits, are your windows of opportunity. They also provide challenges to help you grow and explore the magic of your life, and living.

Synastry (and composite) charts describe the chemistry between two or more people, and the reason for the relationship, as well as the potential opportunities and challenges they shall face, face, and have faced.

Just like the natal and progressed charts — synastry and composite charts, are operating and repair manuals focused on your relationships. Along with a counseling astrologer, skilled in reading charts and therapeutic dialogue, you may enjoy a much faster and clearer repair of your relationship.

How Mercury Works in Your Natal Chart

Hey, what better time to think about how Mercury (and my Mercury) works in a natal chart than during Mercury Rx!

My Sun and Mercury have home signs (Leo and Virgo), so I’m seen as a strong thinker / communicator. It’s my natural talent. And  Aries is on the 3rd so I process information quickly, if I can get it quickly enough. I was considered a scatterbrain (my grade 6 teacher called me that) because I could think faster than I could talk. Yup, I’m a fast speaker and typist.

With a Virgo Mercury (and Aries on the third), I’m a fact hunter. I love the pure truth and knowledge. Combine Aries on the 3rd with Virgo Mercury, and you get an “interrogator” which is similar to (but not exactly like) having Mercury Aries, or Mercury-Mars. Now, from my perspective I’m just trying to get factual information quickly. And if I don’t integrate the Libra side of Aries into the picture, I can appear as pushy or aggressive — hence the “Interrogator” but that’s only if someone has a tendency to look on the negative side of life. My combination, in its neutrality, just says: Wanting to process facts quickly or Fast Facts. And I’ll cut people off from embellishments, and fluffy stuff to get it.

Inside my third house, I only have Chiron. Here are some ways this plays out:

* I’m a fearless communicator for those who can not speak their truth.
* I was wounded about my speech. My grade six teacher calling me scatterbrain.
* I took speech therapy for a lisp (I have a gap tooth) and my father didn’t want me to get surgery to correct it.
* I can wound people with my speech. I’ve been called intellectually dominating, have the ability to cut someone up, and be a hardcore debater. However, I have a high mind (Jupiter & Uranus in Libra) so it’s unlikely I would do that for kicks. I really think I could have been a lawyer.

I have no other celestial objects in Aries, other than Chiron.

Now, I was checking out my friend who has a lot of Aries and Virgo in his chart (including Mercury Aries, and Mars Virgo — he’s really a Mercury-Mars thinker / communicator too) but he doesn’t seem to have any sympathy for my communication challenges. Then again, he’s got Taurus on the 3rd. He likes to take time to process his information (slower talker, thinker)– this, of course, is in direct conflict with his Mercury Aries — who would usually want to process information quickly.

He also has the ability to tear me a new one, but it’s not usually logical or pin pointed enough for me (sorry hun!) so it doesn’t get him far. This makes his Aries (in to win) angry. But thankfully, since he has Taurus on the 3rd it’s similar to Venus-Mercury or Mercury Taurus so he caves and smooths it all over — eventually. ;-)

Going back to my natals, I have Mars in the 7th. My Mercury is colored by Mars so knowing what Mars is doing is very important. It means that I generally have what my partners, associates, and clients may consider “interrogation sessions” — well, my clients would consider it “therapy” ;P. I would rarely (if ever) behave in this way with strangers, people who are not in my inner circle, or people whom I am not trying to help.

If I’m in to win, it’s to win at gaining my own sense of clarity and understanding about a topic.  I love being clear. I love clear thoughts. I love knowing things clearly. I have great difficulty being in the fog, and unknown (Pisces).

I love other people sharing clear thoughts.  I am in respect, and awe at the clarity of other thoughts — when they rarely shine through (excuse my disdain at lack of clarity).  I’m like, “Go you. Sure, I can get behind that”.

I don’t want to sit and process my own thoughts, if your clear thoughts are right in front of me. I’m in for the solution. But I may piggy back off your thoughts, to arrive at new thoughts.  It’s all about learning more, moving forward, and getting to the absolute bottom of things.

QUESTIONS:

What sign is your Mercury in? What sign is on your third house cusp? What rules that sign, and what house does that planet reside in?

(Side-note: It’s also interesting to note that Mercury Rx Pisces is currently conjunct Mars! Astrology, got to love it.)

Help Predict Your Own 2013: Making & Keeping Your New Year Resolutions, Astrology Style

The Gregorian calendar marks the new year as January 1.

January is the first month of the year.  In numerology, 1 represents starts, beginnings, initiatives, and innovations (amongst other things). January 1, 2013 adds up to a 8. This day is a power, wealth, and health day. It simply is a wonderful way to start off 2013 — with a bang!

January 1, 2013 is also in the sign of Capricorn, ruled by Saturn.

Saturn is a task master.  It likes to oversee, test, turn, and try. And Capricorn is just the right sign to deal with these hardships, and make the grade. Capricorn is a serious and responsible sign, and it’s a great sign to get the job done. So this is a great time to make your intentions known to Saturn, and Saturn will take you seriously.

Now, lets say you slide and you don’t have a lot (or any) of Capricorn or Saturn or it isn’t aspected well in your chart, and you’re finding it hard to make or keep new year resolutions — don’t fret because March 21, 2012*  is in the sign of Aries, and it is the next best time to carry through your intentions (New Year Resolutions).

Aries is ruled by Mars.  Mars is the planet of action and passion. Aries is a self-starting sign that comes first in the zodiac.  Now while Aries is great for being fearless and courageous about whatever it wants, it doesn’t always last for the long haul like Capricorn does.  But not to worry, Taurus (April 20th) is right behind Aries — ready to take it all the way home!

Help Predict What Happens to You in 2013 by Manifesting Your Own Desires

This year, I plan on writing out intentions based on my natal chart and solar return and then putting them in a jar. Then I’ll review the jar now and then for how far I’ve gotten and to remind me of what I want to do. If I’m struggling with a particular intention, I’ll put it in a visible place for me to pass daily.

A couple of my New Year’s Intentions

One thing I’m working on is independence.  Numerology wise, I will be in a 1 year so I’m doubly focused on intention making and this intention — this year.

The First House

As strong as I am, with the ability to take initiative on my own — with my Sun in the 7th, I can easily become co-dependent and lose myself in partnerships.

So I’m focused on independence and getting my needs met through myself because historically I’ve come second, even if I’m leading a relationship or partnership of any kind. I have also skipped doing something because my partner (business, romantic, or otherwise) didn’t want to do it — rather than going out and doing it on my own because I want too.

I have Capricorn rising, and the sign Aquarius inside the first. I have no planets in my first, but I do have Uranus in the 1st in my Solar Return and that’s in Aries until the summer of 2013. So I still have more to do with becoming fully independent, and relying on my own resources even if there is someone else I could lean on. That has to now become a conscious choice, with the understanding of the future consequence.

The Second House

The next thing I’m working on is fixing my physical self, and helping me make money through my own talents such as giving astrology & tarot consultations as well as teaching it (Uranus on the 2nd, Pisces NN inside — intercepted) rather than through my other business (where I employ other people, and earn money from them because I have a full 8th house including my Venus in there).

I’m very good at fixing others and my own psychology, as well as helping them make money and be grounded in the real world (Virgo stellium in the 8th, with some formidable planets in there including Pluto and Mercury — not conjunct), but my 2nd house is empty with erratic Uranus on the cusp with Pisces NN inside (intercepted). I need help, and I need to help myself for a change!

In my 2013/2014 solar return, the Sun enters my 2nd house. My self-esteem, physical stability (body and resources) and creating a stable income, from my own efforts, are important to my health, in all ways. Meditation, outdoor excercise, body wellness, and spiritual connection to other human beings becomes a priority.

So those are a couple of my new year resolutions, astrology style.

Questions:

  1. Astrologically, what are some of your intentions for 2013?
  2. Where’s Saturn, Pluto, Mars, Capricorn, Scorpio, and Aries in your chart and the ones you love? This is where you’ll want to note, and focus your good intentions.

* Transit Watch Notes:  March 21 is the day that Pluto is in 11° Capricorn, and Uranus is in 8° Aries. Pluto Squares Mars in Aries 6° and Uranus Conjuncts it. These are signs (Capricorn and Aries) that I mentioned above. Then two months and ten days later (May 31) Uranus catches up to Pluto at 11° Aries with the Moon (Aquarius), Mars (Taurus), Mercury (Gemini), and Black Moon Lilith (Gemini) all in 29°.  So watch tempers, and the dark side.

World Transit: Void Course of Moon – Scorpio

Today, the Moon is feeling invasive. My Saturn Taurus has been Opposing it since early this morning.  The Void of Course Moon is currently at 28° 38′ 9″ Scorpio at 20:10 UT time — just riding the critical degree of 29° that Mercury was at yesterday.  So it’s no surprise that the Moon has been on my mind, and the mind of other astrologers today.

Awhile back, I asked a group of professional astrologers why we were experiencing so many Void of Course Moons. Along with the mention that it was because many of the Moons were in early degrees (this one is in a late degree, soon to change signs), this reply from astrologer Hal Bahr, stood out:

November 7 at 2:01pm The first thing that strikes me is not the VOC moon periods [how many we have been having lately] but rather the acknowledgement that all the planets representing the great gods of change are in early degrees of signs signalling a new era of sorts and pointing to new places and themes we must revolutionize (this has been going on/building up for some time but Saturn finishing up in Libra has been acting as a braking mechanism). There is a greater and greater push to do tangible things that provoke change. All the VOC moon periods speak to me of what can happen when we use that youthful energy (youthful folly – I-Ching) to initiate things without taking the timing into consideration. Many initiatives come to naught if they were not launched with attention to detail, practicality, and timing. On the other hand I find VOC moon periods to be excellent times to dream, vision, and employ non-linear techniques to problem-solving and to going deeply within to discover creative ways of changing ourselves and coming into alignment with the energy of the times., Hal Bahr, of Soul Design

Late degree signs are also about starting something new by putting an end to the old (what’s matured and ripened — has born fruit already), and all with a child-like wonder. The fact the Moon is in Scorpio right now, emphasizes this theory. Scorpio is regenerative and about ends and beginnings. Also, Mars (the planet of initiation) co-rules Scorpio.  Coincidence?!

What was my Void of Course Moon day about?

It was about making a decision to start pouring my long winded writing into books, and then taking snippets of those books and putting them into blog posts (either before OR after publication).

Given that my Virgo stellium is in the 8th (the house of Scorpio) and the topics I write about are Scorpio-like, it makes perfect sense that I made an emotionally difficult decision to put an end to something (that needs to end) when Scorpio was void of course in a late degree. And this had been on my mind for awhile too.

It is said not to start anything new during a void of course, and I haven’t.  I’m still writing here.  I haven’t begun my outlines for the books I intend to write.  That will all happen in 2013.  No, this was a time to dream up my future, make peace with the past, and when this Moon has begun to wane — I will begin plotting out my future writing strategy (Scorpio style! ;-).

So this late degree VOC Scorpio Moon was Opposed my Saturn, and because of that I was emotionally damp today.  But working through this upcoming change in my writing (one I haven’t wanted to do) — will help me finally get ‘serious’ about it.

At the time of publishing this article, the Scorpio Moon is now at: 29° 41′ 59″ 21:53 UT time.
More coincidence? I think not. :D

Synastry: Improving Human Relations w/ Astrology — the AC (1st house) & DC (7th house)

I’ve come across astrologers saying that person A’s Ascendant on person B’s Descendant makes for a good fit, but it wasn’t until tonight that I realized why.

Basically it goes like this: The 7th house is about what we need from others, and what we project onto them as doing or not doing.

7th house others, can be: romantic partners, a school-mate, a best friend, a business associate, etc. — basically someone we are strongly committed too by verbal, written, or action-oriented contract (for example).

If you don’t have a partner in life, who has their AC on your DC, you’ll probably be left wanting.  You’ll probably even find that your partner (if you have one) wants you to do your DC for them but are in no way prepared or interested in doing that for you — snubbing reciprocity, and fairness.

Example: I have Cancer on the DC. I find that my partners are often needy, and emotional.  Fact is, I am too.  I notice that they need or desire mothering, and nurturing.  The fact is, I ALSO want to be mothered and nurtured.

The 7th house is the house where we tend to want (subconsciously) to have our conscious actions to be mirrored (by the way, the reverse is true here! An insidious house this is), and where we can be co-dependent given that Venus Libra, and Juno naturally rule the house.

When we don’t get our DC needs met through our partner(s), we reduce our effectiveness and can feel unloved. In my case, it also causes emotional anxiety, instability, and uncertainty due to the at-home Moon sign of Cancer being on my DC. So…

Tip: Do your AC for others, and your DC for yourself.

Example: I have Cancer on the DC. I need to make MYSELF comfy, and give myself a dose of self-care. It is better not to put this kind of focus onto another, especially when they haven’t done so for me first, or haven’t asked for it.

It may seem selfish (Aries) at first, to use your DC traits on yourself when it’s natural to do it for others (Libra), but it’s what will ultimately create balance and harmonize the Aries-Libra polarity.

It’s also what will keep you honest. The fact is — you secretly want others to give you those DC traits and you’re or you’ve been role modeling in hopes that it will come back to you (and rarely will it, unless your partner’s AC is on your DC or some other signature mimics it). And if you’re unattached, you’ll want to take care of yourself so that you can a) attract healthy partners, and b) feel satisfied. “Have a relationship with yourself”.

To further harmonize and balance this polarity — and still do for others, you can share your ascendant qualities freely and without the pain that comes with sharing your descendant qualities.  That’s because you just do the ascendant really well.  In fact, you may not even know you’re doing it because it comes so naturally to you. It’s like a baby who may be unaware of its own body, being that Aries is the natural sign on the ascendant and is the baby of the zodiac. So it’s not going to hurt you to share this with others because you already posses these qualities in spades (unlike the descendant qualities that you feel were, has, or are missing and that you secretly hope to get resolved through another)!

So what can you give without hurting yourself?

Example: With Capricorn on my ascendant, I can share my Capricorn traits freely and naturally:

I can and do encourage self-management, seriousness, responsibility, productivity, organization, and dedication to one’s craft, or work. I provide jobs, and pay people. I inspire goal making. I give business advice. And I share my living example that the vow of in sickness and in health is not just an empty promise, or one to take lightly — it’s a commitment to honor, and is honorable.

I don’t need to gain any of this through someone else. I already possess these skills, and traits. I am not in need here. And when I provide this to my partners (committed others), I feel more empowered and stronger in my own life, and business.

What is better to give more to yourself (the descendant) than to others? What can you give (your rising sign qualities, the AC), with glee, to others?

Fixed Star Capulus: Off with their Heads, Persecution of Improper Conduct, and Male Sexual Energy

Fixed Star Capulus

23° or 24° Taurus

Last month I wrote an article titled, Fixed star Algol, Taurus: The Sexual, Emotional, & Psychological Drives of Heterosexual Men with Algol

After I wrote it, I realized my question about my own involvement with Algol men had not been fully answered.  That’s when I started to take a closer look at Capulus. I don’t have Algol in aspect, or paran to any of my planets or angles but I do have Capulus Conjunct Saturn in the 4th house, but not in paran to anything.

The Perseus  Myth

Fixed star energy is deeper, and stronger in my opinion, and basically sets the stage for our life.

The fixed star material I’m bringing up in this article is not easily accessed in talk therapy because it resides as a hidden layer under our regular natal chart (an undercurrent). When I say, “regular”, I mean the standard planets and signs that we readily find in a chart.

And while I find the planets of our natal chart describe who we are, the fixed stars seem to be the myths we play out, often with our soul mates (SN stuff). Fixed star energy is deeper, and stronger in my opinion, and basically sets the stage for our life. Therefore, it’s very important to know what river flows beneath the sand, and work towards applause, rather than boos.

And that’s what I hope to accomplish in this article.  I hope that you’ll be able to uncover compulsive (covered and deep 8th house material) behavior so that you or the ones you care about may begin healing and putting an end to destructive myths being played out. But not only that, I want you and those you care about to achieve greatness — to take the next evolutionary step of self-awareness and self-development.

View images of Perseus (sexual, brave, ego, courage, victory, youth, dare, daring, vitality, strength, virility, potent , fearless, getting the job done)

Legend has it that “Zeus visited Danae in the form of a shower of gold and got her pregnant with Perseus. As a young man Perseus undertook a mission to kill the Medusa. He was furnished with the sword, cap and wings of Mercury and the shield of Minerva (Athena). He killed the Medusa by cutting off her head and afterwards killed the sea monster Cetus and then rescued and married Andromeda. [Robson*, p.56.]”

About the Perseus Myth: Greek Mythology site

To sum it up, for the purpose of exploring the effects of Capulus on a native, an oracle of Apollo told Danae’s father that her son would one day kill him.

So when Acrisius found Danae (his daughter) had a baby, he cast them out to sea in a large chest.  They were saved by the brother (Dictys) of the king, and the king, Polydectes, wanted to marry Danae but she rejected him.

Polydectes set up a rouse to egg on the ego of Perseus. He challenged Perseus to bring him the head of Medusa!

In his journey to slay the head off of Medusa, he received help from Hermes, and Athena (Minerva) — giving Perseus the sickle of Cronos (Saturn) that was used to overpower Uranus and that Zeus used against Typhoeus. Athena also gave him a shield to protect him from the image of Medusa.  Hermes gave him winged sandals. He also received from the Nymphs of the North, the cap of darkness (invisibility), and a “magic wallet” to put the head inside.

In the end, Perseus successfully slayed Medusa.  He also accidentally hit Acrisisus with a discus in a game on the way back to King Polydectes, and that’s what killed him.

The main players in this story

  • Acrisius, father of Danae
  • Danae, mother of Perseus
  • Perseus, immaculately conceived and is the son of Danae & Zeus (Pisces transformed into Aries or Scorpio?)
  • Zeus, father of Perseus (Jupiter, Sagittarius and yet connected to Taurus as he at one point turns himself into a white bull)
  • Polydectes, the savior (through his brother) of Dane and Perseus
  • Adromeda, whom Perseus got released her from the rock, and married. Poseidon had punished her for her mother’s misstep by chaining her to rock to be sacrificed to a sea monster.
  • Hercules, son of Zeus and also a descendant of Perseus and Adromeda

Supporting players

  • Mercury (Gemini, Virgo)
  • Minerva (Athena, Mars, Scorpio, Aries)
  • Pegasus

Divine Languages: Astrology & Other Oracles

As we speak, we divine. We are oracles. We are gods or god is within us. ~ Abella Arthur

I was thinking today about astrology being a language, an ancient symbolic one — one that can tell us a lot about ourselves, the past, and the future. Then I realized that our own native language — whether that be French, Italian, Russian, or English can also do the same.

All languages — whether oral, written, visual, ancient, symbolic, or physical — are divine.

My native language is English. When I read people’s words, hear what is said, I can divine the future. Even within a word, such as “persecute” and its mythological roots of “Perseus“, there is so much that can be known as to what is about to happen. When using language to communicate messages — past, present, and future – we are all acting as oracles.

When I think of medieval times, I think of the ‘common people’ tending to and enjoying physical things but when speaking or reading occurred, words seemed to be weighty and serious. Serious times bring to mind declarations, rules, and laws spoken in big ominous halls, spells cast in caves, or speeches uttered upon a 19th Century soapbox.

There is something sacred in the words we speak. Words hold power: They can change our opinion, tug at our emotions, or cause us to take action.

Quotes like the following suggest the power in words:

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Don’t speak until you’ve been spoken to.

When I went to find quotations about speaking, the majority (if not all) of the sayings on one website said not to talk unless you want to be considered a fool, because only the wise speak.

To speak and to speak well are two things.  A fool may talk, but a wise man speaks.  ~Ben Jonson

Don’t speak unless you can improve on the silence.  ~Spanish Proverb

Let a fool hold his tongue and he will pass for a sage.  ~Pubilius Syrus

Or the suggestion is that if you’re going to say it, you better stand by it, or water it down so it doesn’t have as much strength.

If you wouldn’t write it and sign it, don’t say it.  ~Earl Wilson

Euphemisms are unpleasant truths wearing diplomatic cologne.  ~Quentin Crisp

Words have been dumbed down, and have lost meaning. People rarely speak with authority, or wisdom — rather waiting for someone else to say it or re-quoting because they may fear saying it themselves.

We’ve been told to shut up, don’t think, and surely do not express ourselves or have a voice. Because of this constant oppression, we’ve forgotten our voices.  We’ve forgotten the power to love, and heal through our words, as well as destroy and hurt.

Did you know that Logos means, Gods word or The Word of God. Whereas a logo is a “graphical representation or symbol of a company name, trademark, abbreviation, etc.” Source The fact is that logo is derived from logos.  The God(s) have chosen to speak to us in symbols. The language chosen is a universal one that is visual and symbolic. Astrology and tarot are two languages the Gods use to speak to us. Everyone can learn how to read astrology and tarot.  We are all oracles.

Logos is logical. Logos is related to thought, and reason. God is rational. We are rational, in an irrational world. The world is backwards, with the law of opposites. We are irrational, in a rational world. Whatever we think to be the case, isn’t.

That is one reason why it is so very important to LISTEN to what others have to say. Often what is said is backwards. If they say they *don’t*, they do.  If they say they *do*, they don’t. People tell us what’s going to happen, especially in relationship to them.

As much as we, as a people, have diluted our speech to be less charged and more palatable with double speak and euphemisms, people still can’t help being oracles; it’s in our DNA to speak logos.

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14-18 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory…

When we speak, we divine. We are oracles. We are gods or god is within us.

Interpreting Astrology

When we interpret one language into another, like I do when I interpret astrology or tarot into a language my client or friend understands, we will be imperfect and probably come up with something slightly different than another interpreter. That’s because language is an art, a humanity. Each human being has a slightly different perception of their reality, so we will divine different insights from what we hear and see.  Because of that, no interpretation is perfect; therefore, no astrologer will be perfect in their interpretation or express something in a way that the client will understand. Take the best, and leave the rest.  If it sounds off, it is off.

Learning Astrology: The Function of a Planet, Sign, and House

Here’s a good way to remember what the function is of a planet, sign, and house:

1. The PLANet, makes the PLAN.
2. The Sign, carries out that plan in the style of the sign. Think of your signature, or way you like to dress.
3. The House, is where and why the action occurs. It’s the vehicle. It contains the planet and sign.

Example

The domicile planet for Mercury is Gemini, and co-rules Virgo.

I am using Mercury Aries in the 12th house as the example.

The Planet is Mercury.  It’s plan for you is to think and communicate.

The Sign is Aries. You are going to carry out this plan by thinking fast, and furiously. By being innovative, brave, and courageous in expressing your thoughts.

The House is the 12th. Poetry may be written. Poetry may be chosen as the vehicle for expression because it quiets the loudness of Aries while still making a strong impact.  Aries Mercury in the 12th, requires a less direct approach since its speaker is too forward and brusque for a verbal discourse, musing, or philosophical discussion for gentler minds.

How it Works: Astrology & Duplication of Insights

There is duplication within astrology.

Like most (if not all) languages, more than one word can be used to convey the same or more accurately — similar meaning.

Fixed stars, for example, are duplicated in other ways within the chart and vice versa. For example, my own Moon Conjunct Denebola in the 8th can be restated as my Neptune in the 10th or Mercury Semi-sextile Uranus straddling my 9th. Of course, Moon Conjunct Denebola is the most precise way of saying that what I see, many others do not.

Thankfully the language (of astrology) has been written so that you don’t need to know ALL THE WORDS (symbols, data) in order to get the meaning and understand things fully.

Divorce & Break-up Aspects in Astrology

I took at look at search terms and “divorce aspect” came up. I have only written about Venus Square Uranus but there are other divorce aspects. The aspects below would indicate a short relationship, for better or worse. Don’t ignore the truth, it is right in front of you.

Natal aspects, by transit, or solar return.

Venus Square Uranus — Overcoming electric or love that shocks.  Easy come, easy go. This especially applies for couples who haven’t been together or married a long time.

Venus Opposition Saturn — Long time love is no longer wanted. This especially applies for couples who have been together or married a long time.

Venus Square or Opposition Chiron – The love you have together basically leads to pain — love hurts.  After awhile, the couple may shelve the relationship.

Pluto in or on the angles (1,4,7,10)  — Pluto destroys what no longer deserves to live. You can end the connection and start over again or completely get rid of it – the choice is yours.

Saturn in or on the angles (1,4,7,10) — Staying together is hard.  You have to go through many tests, trials, and tribulations to stay together. If you’re hard working, you’ll make it.

Uranus Opposition Uranus — Did you get too comfortable in your marriage? Is it time for a change? Uranus is going to sweep you away from the dull-drums and give you a roller coaster of a good time.  Will that be with the one you committed too or someone else? Again, it’s your choice.

Can you think of any others?!

There are asteroids, Arabic parts, and fixed stars that could indicate it as well.

Comments about UAC2012 Astrologer Predictions: Astrologers Speak Out

Since Aries is on my 3rd house cusp (with Chiron sitting inside), and Jupiter Libra is in the 9th (along with a whack of 8th house Virgo celestial objects, including Mercury) — I’ll naturally speak out when I witness a lack of logic or fair play — that’s if I can make the time, that is.

The following is a response to the comments about the news story on USA Today that reported on the predictions (that were done by a number of astrologers at the UAC2012 convention) of Obama winning the next election and that of Mercury Rx beginning the first day of voting later this year (crap, that was a run-on sentence if I ever read one… LOL.. Oh well, no time to fix!).

I was responding to these common sentiments from religious people:

“I trust in God and Jesus who created the heavans and all that is in it.” and “AMEN!! He is in control. As Nero was in Paul’s time. We are responsible to our LORD in all ways. I do pray for a better world for my children and sweet grandchildren. Jesus…I know you are in control~help me to pray more and trust you more each hour.”

Do you think astrology controls people?! No, it does not. It illustrates the human condition — the individual, as well as the whole, and it lays out God’s divine plan for us all. It’s like a treasure map or a gift from the heavens. Astrologers study the cosmos over time and look at patterns and signatures — similar to how the weather, stocks, or sports are forecasted and analyzed. If you agree that certain things happen, when certain things happen, then you’ll have a better understanding of how astrology works. It’s straightforward but can also be very hard to learn for many reasons. Astrologers are observers of connections. Astronomy is the physical and Astrology is the mental. Astrology is an art connected to the science of astronomy. Before you naysay, take some time to learn about the study of the stars. There are many astrologers who were once skeptics. Actually, I’m still a skeptic. I generally have to prove something to myself before I believe; however, I don’t put down believers such as those that believe and have faith in God even though the existence of God can not be currently, tangibly proven. And that’s what seems quite illogical to me regarding the naysaying. Now, did you know there are Christian Astrologers? I bet many of you didn’t know. And that’s the point. You’re not taking the time to fully explore all that God has given us. The Sun is warm, come out from the cave and bask in the glory of God. :)

There were really great responses from other astrologers.  Here’s a couple from Christopher Gilles:

“exactly my point :) most christians think that folks into astrology are star worshiping pagans, when in reality, most astrologers I know believe quite strongly that God created “the heavens and the earth” and that the stars don’t necc, control our lives, but that God created the stars as a reflection of our lives “so as above as below” Understanding the movement of the stars and planets, is understanding another language of God, that God has written out right before our eyes, how the manifest universe operates. If God created all of reality, then it only makes sense that God created the laws that govern the movement of the planets and stars within that reality. Observation of those movements over time by astrologers led to them becoming aware of certain tendencies when certain things in the “heavens” took place. Makes sense to me.” and “nicely said eric. The third law of thermodynamics or entropy, says basically what you are saying (yeah, Im a scientist :) It says that all matter in the “void” moves towards maximum dispersion or chaos, this is what we see when we drop a bit of food coloring into a glass of water, it eventually will completely and evenly disperse. In nature we observe this happening, things will break down decay, etc. But we also observe the exact opposite happening. Order springs from the chaos. Plants grow, humans reproduce, etc. Things are also moving in the direction of order, and refinement, something from nothing. There is an underlying principle that holds the chaos together, in a meaningful, conscious and divine way. Certain signatures of a divine creation are apparent in things such as the golden ratio, also known as the divine proportion, golden mean, or golden section (google if you dont know, it’s facinating) that pop up in all things around us ( the human body for instance, in all it’s various proportions such as hight to width, even down to your teeth, reflect the golden ratio). God’s signature? :)”

I wish I had time to read what everyone had to say. It’s amazing how wonderfully insightful other astrologers are — many of them unpublished!

And I finished with this thought, after reading a peculiar phrasing (though I didn’t post it because I don’t need the heat my Mars can bring on and it could be taken as inciteful)…

Please excuse my Virgo: “Mercury and Venus are in conjunction in the house of Taurus”.  The house of Taurus would be more clearly expressed as the 2nd house. Taurus is connected to the 2nd house but it is not the 2nd house. It can be phrased like this: Mercury Conjunct Venus in the 2nd house or Mercury and Venus are in conjunction in the 2nd house. Astrology is like another language (a symbolic one) and can be quite hard to learn but when someone tries, kudos to them.  At least they are attempting to figure it out, even if they don’t.

Psychopath Astrology by Astrologer, Marina Darkstar (My Response)

In response to Marina’s most awesome article about Psychopath indicators showing up in Astrology.

Hi Marina,

Fabulous article — yet again!

Mars direct is a great time to write about or contemplate this topic. It’s been bubbling over in my mind ‘again’ so I’m so happy to see you’ve written about it as it’s very interesting to read!

I first wanted to tackle the topic last summer when the Cardinal T-square (Mercury, Uranus, Pluto) was activated but it’s such a HUGE subject. I wonder if you felt like you were opening up a can of worms when you delved into it.

I have a number of charts I’ve been working on for an article about the “Astrology of Bullying” and bullies are often sociopathic.

Anyway, with the research I’ve done so far — I can support your assertion that “Black Moon Lilith (also Pluto) in aspect to the AC” is a strong indicator especially if it’s on the DC and 1° or less.

And it seems that the opposition with Moon and Pluto (and BML) comes up the most as it relates to potential psychopathy.

Like you mentioned, not every native who has these signatures is a psychopath. And in fact, they may be a fighter of psychopaths, treat, or attract them so I’m glad you ended the article with that. It’s a sensitive topic, for sure.

Warm regards,
Abella

I’d also like to mention that my research indicates that Pluto in aspect to Mars and/or Mercury can also indicate sociopathic traits.  Saturn and Uranus can also be nasty beasts, attacking human life. Just remember, there’s good, neutral, and bad in EVERYTHING. No black and white.  Just because you or someone you know has this doesn’t mean they are disordered.  They may have an edge but that doesn’t mean they have a full-on personality disorder that affects their relationships, and life.

World Transit: Moon Trine Neptune, and Personal Reflections on Chiron, the Sesquare, & Moon Conjunct Neptune

It’s been awhile since I’ve had music on here.
I feel like it’s a Neptunian day. Let me check the world transits…

And so it is — we have Scorpio Moon (1° when I checked it) Trine Neptune Pisces, also Neptune Conjunct Chiron.
I imagine we’ll have many spiritual days and soulful sounds in 2012 with Neptune in Pisces

I’m already in tune with these energies since I have Moon (Virgo) Sextile Neptune (Scorpio) and Chiron in Pisces.
And I’m working on my Neptune Sesquiquadrate Chiron in talk therapy for 2012 as these two bodies conjunct and land in my 12th in the SR this year.  I’m actually doing this in an institutional environment. Astrogasm!

I wrote about the sesquare aspect (three full posts on one aspect!) a long time ago…
I basically see this aspect as a different ability, and where you need help to rise to the challenges of society. It’s also where you’re naturally disconnected from society, with an unusual awareness that isn’t accepted by the masses.

As usual, there’s so many ways to read something and right now I’m reading my Neptune Sesquiquadrate Chiron aspect as if it were about me healing my spiritual wounds.  I’m doing this with the assistance of a vision quester through narrative therapy.

I can see the spiritual wounds of others but often they can’t see it.  And what’s worse, is that while I’m busy paying attention to others (other, public chart) I haven’t been able to readily see my own.    This is a challenge and one reason why I decided not to become a psychologist and work with my own psychology instead.  And I’ve decided the best way to help others heal, through me, is eventually through my art.

I’ll help heal others in the Neptunian way.

World Transit: Moon Scorpio Trine Neptune Pisces — Spiritual reflection, soulful union to Gaia or one’s mother, finding peace (yourself) in music, investigating feelings, feeling out your environment, foods that heal.

Recommended music for today:  Enigma, Cafe Del Mar, Buddha Bar, Julee Cruise, and Thomas Dybdahl. Listen on Youtube, Start here

Tarot: Tower Card Meaning — Rain, thunder, change, potential for accidents, and uncertainty

Last night I asked the tarot (without using TarotSeek):  How will today go?

I got the Tower card.  Having originally learned tarot from a book, my immediate thought was BAD THINGS to come (accident, chaos, change) but my personal transits for the day are pretty good with no Mars/Uranus contacts.

What’s happened so far?  Rain and soon-to-be thunder. ;-P

This makes TOTAL sense.

It’s still my initial thought (a superficial one due to learning from a book and stuck on what I read which is one reason I now learn on my own before reading what others say!!) because I’ve been riding my bike (Julee – yes, she named herself today ;-P) only in good weather and I plan to ride in ANY weather (I have Aries rising in my SR this year!!).  Also, I think there’s a chance for car accidents and I need to be more mindful for the road to stay out of the way of drivers.

(Update on biking: Crazy hard rain weather but ultimately incredibly refreshing and healing.  The helmet and rain jacket held up well (upper body nice, cozy, and dry) but need rain/wind bike pants, a fender, full gloves that are water resistant, and shoe covers for ultimate comfort and health. Also, there were puddles of water and while I was so happy sliding down the water I had to keep reminding myself to go slow and break early, and I avoided taking chances. Wow, I am totally into extreme sports without getting hurt!! LOL  Someone said they had full respect for me going out to ride on such a day like this. Smile

Update on the tarot card:  Well, I experienced a small flame of fire that erupted from my toaster oven and I sliced my foot on a window that was taken out to get an air conditioner in.  Very Tower card too… I just decided to stay still after all that and do some work on the computer.  LOL… better safe than sorry.  Also, there was a major stoppage of our subway system today and electrical problems all over the city — a flickering but the power never going out.  This may also be related to Venus Gemini Rx on a Friday (Venus’ day))

After my bike ride, shower, and FOOD. I'm a happy Girl playing in the rain with Julee. ♥

Tarot talks, that’s for sure.

Happy day folks. ♥

Your Natal Chart Is Perfect Unless It Isn’t: What’s It For You?

Your natal chart is PERFECT; however, you have to ‘work with it / yourself’ and not against. If you don’t, it’s NOT perfect. Change needed. – Abella Arthur

I was having a discussion with a client yesterday about how their son’s chart is perfect if he understands, accepts, and works with energy that isn’t easily tolerated by most other people.

The son has a difficult Mercury placement and his Mercury is in Virgo, like me — same degree even.  I totally understand ethics, authenticity, and the truth.  Also, about doing the right thing but her son is quite forceful (Pluto) about communication (Mercury) and it causes friction (square) with friends (Pluto in the 11th).

At one point her son said something about a shady practice he saw other students engage in (Pluto in the 11th) and told the Principal about it.  The backlash from the other kids was immense once they found out what they were going to lose because of it. This in turn has caused great distress for her son and I was called upon to help sort through it.

I said to my client:  If he can do the right thing and live with the consequences of others’ not being happy with that, then it’s all good.  He can channel that square into a trine and be in harmony with assertively doing the right thing no matter the likely negative backlash (an activist, judge, and other career types would fight over what my client’s son has because it’s powerful and unsettling to his opponents and oh so true and progressive — Mercury-Uranus contact too).  He must also think before he speaks.  Weigh the outcome and really look at all the people who will be affected by the unbridled truth.

But if he takes it to heart and gets upset about it, he has a couple of choices:  1. Find other people like him and spend time in places that suit his temperament.  Join the Debate Club, Mensa Club, Young Lawyers Club, etc. and channel that energy into areas that welcome that kind of friction while steering clear from the ‘norms’ or 2. Work with Saturn’s people.  Work with the Earth.  Do the right thing, socially — rather than the right thing, ethically or authentically.

So learn to get along with yourself or learn to get along with others or maybe go Libra style — and do a little of both. :-D

My *Sale* is Extended until Tuesday May 29th, 2012.

My *Sale* is Extended until Tuesday May 29th, 2012.

I probably won’t have a ‘social friends’ sale again so get it while it’s at a hot and happy price point. :D

First sessions are always going to be more expensive than when you become a client and we meet once or more times in the year.  It’s currently set at an intake fee of $139 but that will only go up as I gain more experience and knowledge.  Right now, you can get your first session around the price of a regular client.  And after you get my ‘first session’ at this price, I’ll put you on my ‘client list’ and they’re all enjoying 50% off ‘client rates’!!! So it’s in the $50-60 range… It pays to be a client; don’t delay and make your payment.

You can choose from The Kitchen Sink (astrology, numerology, tarot, psychic, etc.) or Astrology (natal, synastry, progressions, solar returns, etc.)

If you already know too much about astrology and are looking for complex answers from me (that you haven’t found elsewhere), focus on The Kitchen Sink (of which half or more is tarot).  If you know more about tarot and hardly anything about astrology, choose an astrology consultation.

If you’re at an intermediate to advanced level for both, you probably won’t get much more out of me but I’ll confirm what you already know to be true and may surprise you (may!).  I’m at an advanced professional level with mastery in bits and pieces, but I’m not a Master Astrologer or Master Tarot Reader. Give me another 10 years, or not.

P.s. I’m not here to perform the extraordinary (only that one *big guy in the sky can) even if my readings and consultations are out of this world. :P

Describing the Effects of Algol by Astrologer Michael Wolfstar

I was looking for some thoughts about “Juno Conjunct Algol” (didn’t find any) and came across this well-written article by astrologer Michael Wolfstar. He’s been able to express Algol in a way that many other astrologers have not.

Here’s an excerpt:

In traditional astrology, Algol is associated with violence, death, alcoholism, and losing one’s head, both physically and metaphorically, as in going insane. In modern times, astrologers see Algol as the carrier for the collective rage of suppressed female power. Maria Shriver announced her separation from the Governator last week, and this event helps illustrate how Algol works in practice. – Michael Wolfstar

By the way,  I believe “Algol Conjunct Juno” relates to having a partnership ended through abuse (Juno = marriage, partnership, tough love), an abusive marriage, or severe disrespect of dominant female energy in a partnership.

Michael Wolfstar can also be found at Neptune Cafe serving up some delicious mundane astrology (world news, events, celebrity readings) and teaching cosmic tidbits (such as asteroids) here and there.  I think professional and advanced astrologers can appreciate his work.

The Frustations of an Astrologer: Knowing The Future May Not Matter Much For Them

As an astrologer, tarot reader, and numerologist, I have access to insights into the future.

And while these future insights can do wonders in my personal life, it won’t do much if friends and loved ones don’t have the same kind of insight, belief, interest, or take as much seriousness as to what will happen, as I do.

If you’re an occultist, do you find this to be the case for you too?  If not, how do you overcome it?

Because of this, a challenging or difficult future event is likely to remain that way since I can only control myself and what I do. So it doesn’t matter that I know about what will happen between myself and another because the other person (in addition to myself) would need to take action to create a better outcome.

You may be saying: Well, at least you can pull yourself out of the future event when you know early!

And I have this to say about that:
I don’t know ALL future events that will happen to me. I go along with life, and when things aren’t going well (in the now) I go check out my transits and progressions and see what’s up so it may be too late. And I might check out when BIG transits are happening or look at my solar returns a couple of years ahead but I don’t really dig deep until I’m in the thick of something and know what I’m looking for (there’s just so much to look at!!).

Even when I am finally clued in, other future events are on the horizon. And there may not be enough time to extricate myself from a situation AND there’s no 100% guarantee that a specific incident could happen in the way I’m imagining it (many ways to read something) and I could burn a connection with someone for no good reason or keep one, when I should have let it go.

And the universe may want me to experience the situation anyway and come up with something else if I try to evade it so…

In the end, it sucks to know things that others don’t or don’t want to know because the work to change an outcome is too challenging for them and they’d rather let life lead them instead of leading their life. Bah!

Do you Saturnize Yourself? Does Someone Saturnize You? (Saturn Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius)

Saturn is about (amongst other things) restrictions, limitations, karma, tests, weight, obstacles, goals, maturity, age, what is old (like old news), etc.

Taurus is about (amongst other things) growth, fine food and drink, stability, security, resources, structures, building, love, sensuality, what is valued, finances, stocks, bonds, and saving accounts.

I have Saturn Taurus and if you clicked on that link I don’t have all those problems though the delineation is quite good!

I believe that all problems are solved in time. So an immature Saturn in Taurus may exhibit some of that cookbook delineation but a mature Saturn in Taurus (whose learned a lot of lessons) will not.  Also, there’s something to be said about going from being uneducated to educated.  Once you know what’s happening and why, you can do things to make positive changes in your life.

With my Saturn in Taurus, I’ve been working with  limited financial resources and I find it takes forever to get what I want, to be stable and secure.

But it doesn’t have to take forever, and I don’t have to be limited. I can budget, ask where I can get resources for less, and plan for my future.  I’ve done that but I haven’t done it consistently and that’s a problem for Saturn.  Saturn likes to see consistency over a long period of time.  The facts, the actual deeds done, are the proof Saturn needs in order to give you the unlimited, Jupiterian gifts of that sign. So eventually I’ll be wealthy, have incredible security, and safety when I get with the F-ing program! But it’s a full course load….

Saturn Taurus (April 30, 1969 to June 18, 1971, June 12, 1972 to February 21, 1972, June 10, 1998 to October 25, 1998, March 1, 1999 to August 9, 2000, October 17, 2000 to April 20, 2001) means lessons around setting up structures that limit resources (such as a budget), responsibilities and investments in love, being tested through being uprooted (can you find your solid ground again?!), delayed gratification (be patient), finding your voice (for me, singing and other things!), responsible predictions, etc.

And I’ve found one can master their lessons and gain access to the vault of gifts, through age and maturity and/or through logic (Aquarius being the co-ruled sign of Saturn) and knowledge.

I wasn’t supposed to be born with a silver spoon in my mouth as it relates to Taurean themes.  I have to work for everything I get, even when it seems that I didn’t.  But if I did have everything handed to me on a silver platter, I probably wouldn’t have been able to appreciate and respect Taurean gifts.  So whatever sign Saturn is in is where you possess incredible power and giftedness BUT you have to earn it.  It has to be respected, appreciated, and handled with care.

So what sign is Saturn in for you?

Oh this got VERY LONG again… LOL
Well, I’ve started it so let me keep going on for just a bit more…

Here’s a little astrological story…

I have my Saturn in Taurus. My friend has their Saturn in Leo. I have a Saturn ruled chart and Saturn (as a planet) rises first and before my Sun.

I find that my friend suppresses or discourages my spending and I discourage their constant desire to play.  They’ve felt restricted, but so have I.  What would work for us (and has) is that I discipline my spending with their support rather than them acting as my parent.  But that means it’s helpful when I come to them with ideas on how to save or spend wisely or when they question me about my spending (do you really need that?!) in a non-condescending way and with my permission. And if they choose to work before playing and take more responsibility in their commitments, I won’t have the desire to curb their playtime. Instead I’ll support and encourage how they restrict and free themselves.

I’m a Leo Sun-Mars and they have Jupiter Taurus! There’s so much intertwined here with the Leo-Taurus thing but not enough time or joy in writing about it.  Talking about it in live conversation? Yes, there’s joy in that and my friend and I have already done that so I’m sharing here some juicy bits and insights found in that conversation.

Saturn Leo (September 18, 1975 to January 14, 1976, June 6, 1976 to November 17, 1977, January 6, 1978 to July 26, 1978, July 17, 2005 to September 2, 2007) comes with lessons around disciplining playtime; responsible leadership and control; limiting creativity; suppressing child-like wonder (the old and wise child missing out on innocence); earning entitlements, affection, and appreciation over time; controlling the ego and sense of power over others; subdued passions; releasing pride, vanity, dogma, and intolerance.

Some More Sample Delineations

Since Scorpio and Aquarius is opposite Taurus and Leo (and they are all fixed signs) I’ll do a short delineation below:

Saturn Scorpio (November 30, 1982 to May 6, 1983,August 25, 1983 to November 17, 1985,October 6, 2012 to December 23, 2014, June 16, 2015 to September 17, 2015): Lessons around sexual responsibility, disciplined occult knowledge, limited control and domination of another and self,  secrets that test, longevity of sexual endurance (time), sexual immaturity to sexual maturity, delays in uncovering the truth, transforming with wisdom, dulled intensity, responsible possession, containing charm, etc..

Saturn Aquarius (February 7, 1991 to May 20, 1993, July 1, 1993 to January 28, 1994): Lessons around being responsible for humanity, disciplined sharing of innovations, limited scientific influence or knowledge, delays in humor (dead-pan humor), setting boundaries of distance, timed computing, structured genius, rebellion causing sorrow, etc..

Sunday May 20 – Sun Enters Gemini, New Moon Gemini, Solar Eclipse, Aspects, & Venus Rx…!

Lots to celebrate, reflect upon, and think about with these upcoming celestial events.
Gemini and Libra are air signs and they like to talk it out, think it out, and express themselves assertively and with evenness.

Dates/Times

Sun Gemini 0° (exact on May 20th 11:16am EST), New Moon Gemini 0° (Exact on May 20th,7:05pm EST), Venus Gemini Rx 23°25, Saturn Libra 23°45 — Aspects: Sun Conjunct New Moon, Venus Rx Trine Saturn

A number of keywords for Gemini:  Changeable, love of variety and mental excitement, $20 words, a gift for the gab, writers and communicators, intelligent, flighty, fickle, two sides, the watchers and observers, song-writing, jingles, text messaging, telephoning, email, board (not bored) games, Scrabble!, Trivial Pursuit, siblings, neighbours, learning, discovering, taking it all in, quick, witty, versatile, mental gymnastics, trade and commerce, sales…

The Sun & Moon are overwhelmingly happy and content with each other today and the Sun will get eclipsed (Solar Eclipse).  I see this as the ego and self-interests being overshadowed and making way for the process of reconnecting and communicating with our emotional selves.  We want to get in touch, understand, know, and communicate our feelings to others and more importantly — to ourselves!

Through the Venus Rx-Saturn Trine, Venus is re-evaluating her mighty and long-lasting karmic commitments she’s made to her finances, beauty, self-esteem, love, friendships, and relationships.  She is taking a look at whether she wants to be further tested in these areas or make the final ascent to reach and end her old goals.  For the most part, she’s done with what’s went on in the past.

Now Saturn is in Libra and Libra is at home in Venus so Venus Rx Trine Saturn is an important aspect as it relates to Libran themes, issues, and opportunities.

Saturn Libra has been doing a dance since 2009 but it’s since July 2010 that we’ve all really noticed serious and very real restrictions in our partnerships, art, contracts, finances, etc..

Saturn Libra is helping Venus take a fair and balanced look at all this.

And Saturn enters Scorpio in October 2012 so Saturn has 4 more months to do its work in finalizing and marking the tests our relationships, art, money, beauty, etc. have had to endure for quite some time..

As well, Saturn Libra is in Trine with Venus Rx until roughly August 7th which is also around the time that Venus is completely out of the shadow period (July 31). So by the start of August, the majority of us will begin to have a solid footing on where we are going next in the Libran areas of our lives.

Yes, we will feel more comfort, at ease, and at home with ourselves, and our renewed and redone commitments.

That’s a relief because the last two years have been the most trying years of my life (in memory. LOL)

Which house will the Sun, New Moon, and Venus Rx in Gemini land in your chart? Where’s Libra? Have you ever done a New Moon ritual or intention?

Things you can do?  Send a message of love, send a package of joy, write out verbal hugs, express heartfelt thanks and gratitude. Name your feelings.  Meditate upon your relationship to yourself, money, beauty, art, etc..

By the way, Sunday is my FAVORITE day.

RIP Etta James

Some Recent Astrogasm Search Terms & Replies :-)

These are recent search terms so I thought I’d say a few things about them. :-)

  • moon square Chiron 2 — Wounded feelings or wounding emotions.
  • moon square chiron transit 2 — See above.  This transit sucks. ;-)
  • venus in 9th house 2 — You have a love of higher knowledge, spirituality, equality, and art. And that’s what you can study.
  • gemini in the 6th house 2 jobs 1 — Gemini’s love variety and hate boredom.  Have Gemini in the 6th and yup, you will usually have more than 1 job.  And wherever you have Gemini, usually means you’ll have more than one of that thing.  Like I also have Gemini in the 5th and I have more than one hobby.  In fact, I have MANY.
  • synastry so much of oppositions 1 – Sorry to hear that.  It’s a challenge, for sure.  Good luck.
  • aquarius in the 7th house 1 — This one is a challenge too.  This is an independent, in relationships signature but at the same time, it’s hard to give freedom to your partner OR your partner wants ‘too much’ freedom (like you!)
  • saturn and venus conjunction astrology 1 — Long lasting love.  Being in love with the old.  ie. You can still love people 20 years down the road, as if it were yesterday.  That “in love” chemical never really dies with this aspect.
  • venus saturn friends 1 — Long lasting and loyal friends though with the square, the friendship may never really get off the ground and instead can hang in the background indefinitely.  Trines or sextiles are easier…
  • sextile signs 1 — Lots of opportunity and agitation.  It can be good for bad.

Sun Conjunct Venus Rx: Venus Transits The Face Of the Sun (Between Earth & The Sun)

June 5,6 2012
Venus Gemini Rx
15-16°

Numerology / Astrology
5 = Variety, communication, Gemini, Virgo, Mercury
6 = Love, sex, support, Taurus, Libra, Venus
1 = Self, innovation, Aries, Mars

So I figure this transit conjunction shines a light on self-love and having a more supportive relationship with ourselves, learning to communicate better what our needs and boundaries are, and setting out to be better lovers and interdependent beings. And because of that, we are more well-liked and loved.

Because as the old sayings go: You can’t love anyone else, unless you love yourself. But also, no one can love you unless you love YOU.

Sun Conjunct Venus Rx will be in my 5th on the 5th / 6th @ 15-16°, how about you?!

Do You Have The GIFT?!

A student said I had the ‘gift’ because they were not getting something I was getting and because they believe in my talent. *eye roll*

Sorry student if you’re reading this – you know I <3 you but aside from the kudos (thanks!) it’s important to be honest with yourself and not externalize what you consider, failure for knowing.

My reply was:  I have the “gift”, if it’s the ‘gift of analysis. :-P

Seriously, yes… that’s what I’m gifted in:  Putting seemingly unrelated items together; pulling stuff apart and putting it back together again, only to pull it apart again; seeing patterns; and making wild connections. :D

So yes, I’m naturally ‘gifted’ at that with my Mercury Conjunct South Node but not Conjunct Pluto in the 8th and in the sign of Virgo, along with my Virgo stellium!!

But anyone can learn anything they want to learn with time, practice, desire, and an open mind.

I also reminded the student that she’s incredibly bright, studious, and able to analyze quite well but from what I understand — she wants an ‘external’ reward for doing so.  That’s maybe a differentiator between myself and many others.

My reward is finding a solution — MY solution.  It doesn’t have to be anyone else’s, no one has to agree, or clap their hands in praise of my almighty mind… LOL though that’s always appreciated says my Leo Sun-Mars in the 7th. ;P

Now, this may be a news flash to some of you but EVERYONE has a gift.  Yup, you too.  Yup, you’re gifted in some way too.

What are you gifted in?  What do you find you seem to do naturally well but is often harder for other people to do?  Did you suppress or stunt your gift, only to find it blooming later in life?  What, astrologically, do you think represents your ‘gift‘?

And if you don’t think you’re gifted in something, I feel it’s important to check your self-esteem.  And frankly, I’d encourage you to get some talk therapy about that too.  Lack of confidence and low self esteem are a couple of things that will hold you and others back in life if you don’t deal with it.

If you’re not sure how your gift shows up astrologically, that’s entirely different and probably has nothing to do with low self-esteem.

(Note: Self-esteem issues are connected to the 2nd house so it’s a good starting point to explore that; however, other houses and signatures also point to this.)

Astrology: Moon Square Saturn, Teaching Astrology

I was teaching a student about astrology.

I’m not formal and I like the student to think for themselves but I find many students feel initially frustrated with my fortified teaching technique and it’s no walk in the park for me either when I’ve got to jump over those hurdles. :P

Thankfully I have this blog and other written ‘traditional’ work in case they think I’m pulling their leg and know nothing about astrology when I ask:  You tell me what it means?

I sometimes think the student is wondering if I even know my stuff and if they think I’m off my rocker.  LOL

Tonight, I asked a student:  What do you know about Saturn?

The first thing that came out of their mouth was:  I don’t know anything about it.

*sigh*

Okay, how about the Moon?

The student says:

It comes out at night.  It changes shape (crescent, full, etc.).  There’s a glow around it. And people act a little weird when there’s a full Moon.

Yes, that’s right!  The Moon illuminates the dark, what is hidden.  It has a cycle, like a woman’s cycle.  It’s mystical and magical.

She was pleased.

I said, Saturn is about a lot of things and one thing it is about is restrictions and blockages.  And squares are about blockages and obstacles.

So Moon Square Saturn can mean a block in a woman’s menstruation cycle when viewing the chart with a medical lens.  It can also mean not being allowed to see what is hidden, and mystical.  And it can also mean repressing or suppressing one’s crazy and irrational feelings. Or on the flipside, it can mean having crazy and irrational feelings (Moon) that block (Square) stability and progress (Saturn) — this is often why astrologers say Moon Square Saturn natives can have depression.

I basically said:  Don’t get frustrated.  Rather, if you’re going to read anything, you’ll want to develop the skills of: making connections, seeing patterns, and joining seemingly unrelated things.

Rules will only get you so far.  Rules, memorization, and perfect answers are mediocre at best.  Personal connection to the material, leaps of understanding and faith — now, that’s excellent reading.

Aspect Types: Oppositions in Synastry & Natal Astrology Chart

I was grazing the incoming search terms and “oppositions in synastry” came up but unfortunately they didn’t find the blog post they came to read (hint: use the SEARCH feature to the right, at the time of writing this!).

So I’ll take a moment to share more thoughts on that signature.

To simplify, synastry isn’t much different than natal astrology except for the difference that instead of the chart showing your ‘relationship with yourself’, the synastry chart shows a relationship with an external entity (another person or persons).

The conjunction, inconjunction, and opposition all share something in common — a blind-spot of some sort.

An opposition is really just another side of a conjunction and an inconjunction is a maladjusted or poorly constructed opposition.

Oppositions in a natal chart indicate extreme vacillations (see my posts on oppositions) or at least that’s how it can appear to people on the outside.

To you, on the inside, you may find the annoying back and forth, yo-yo dance (that you can’t quite figure out the steps to) irritating and you may even perceive that it’s outside forces causing your missteps.

In synastry, an opposition has a similar effect.  In fact, it’s kind of crazy making because it causes a one foot in, one foot out (hot and cold effect) with the object of your affection or dejection.

An opposition is imbalanced, like the inconjunction, but unlike the quincunx, the instability of an opposition can last much longer and there seems to be a much harder ability to or less interest to harmonize differences ( a real blind-spot!).

Where do you have oppositions in your chart?

That’s where you are out-of-focus and have great difficulty seeing the whole picture.

So in synastry, an opposition basically means that the celestial objects and angles that form that aspect basically don’t see eye-to-eye and the people involved struggle in a tug-o-war to get the other person to see their point of view. It’s very Aries (Mars)-Libra (Venus).

Some say this is hot.  And if the right celestial objects are involved, it IS hot (in the exciting way) but how often and long do you want to burn?! If Mars is control, the relationship or “planetary themes” will burn out faster then you can say FLY or is that FIGHT. Of course, if you’ve got Saturn in the mix, you’re going to be forced to fry until you figure out what karmic mess you’ve both involved yourself in.

But hey, why not beat the red planet with a softer planet?  Lets bring Venus in.

One of the best ways to harmonize this aspect is for ALL people involved in the synastry to: Compromise, and extend the olive branch and be interested in discovering what’s on the other side.

BUT if only one person does that, the other (the partner) will surely be dissatisfied.  Because when it comes to Libra, there must be a mirror effect occurring for the love and fairness of Venus to shine through.

Now before we get too smitten with Venus, in the dance of the opposition, Mars is still quite necessary as he keeps it real and reminds that individual needs are still important. And Venus can be too soft and then you may end up with apathy and nothingness for fear of the somethingness (intended spelling mistake) you may not want.

So we can not ever really have Mars (activity) without Venus (receptivity), and vice versa, unless we want to eventually land into a funk. Afterall, Earth is situated between the two.

That means that Venus doesn’t get her way, nor does Mars BUT they can both get their needs met and that’s what you’ll want to achieve in an opposition, within synastry.

Alright, I REALLY need to get out of this Astrogasm blog for awhile and back into VirgoVault.  It’s just that it seems to take so much more ‘time’ to write an article over there because after I write my article, I read up on what others say, give them a shout-out, find some groovy picture, organize the article, etc. etc.  It takes a long time to write one of those beasts.  LOL But I see I keep writing long winded articles on here and this blog was intended for short quips. Mon dieu! ;-)

Chart Reading Tricks: Where’s Your Mars? What Are You Tireless About? What are your PASSIONs?

Where’s your Mars? What Are You Tireless About? What Can You Go On Forever About?

* What house is your Mars in?
* Look for the signs Aries AND Scorpio. What houses are those signs on?
* What planets, if any, are in those houses?
* What are the themes of those houses?
* What signs or planets are in your house of Scorpio (8th house)?

+ My Mars is in the 7th (natural house ruler: Venus)
+ Aries is on the 3rd house cusp (natural house ruler: Mercury)
+ Chiron is in the 3rd (natural house ruler: Mercury)
+ Scorpio is on the 10th house cusp (natural house ruler: Mars)
+ Neptune is in the 10th (natural house ruler: Saturn)
+ Leo is on my 8th (natural house ruler: Mars)
+ Virgo stellium in my 8th (natural house ruler: Mars)

This is where I don’t give up, what I could do forever, what I can be tireless about — to the point of exhaustion:

I’m a long distance bike rider. I can speak assertively and fearlessly from the moment I wake to the moment I sleep. I speak with force and energy – quickly! I love trade and commerce and I’m a strong worker. I email, email, email. I phone, phone, phone. I have a daily blog and I write all over the darn place (forums, other blogs, social networking, on and off-line), quickly. Tweet, tweet. (Aries/Mars on the 3rd). I encourage people to speak their peace, have their voice heard, and to heal their communication challenges and I do this for myself too -Aries!! (Chiron in the 3rd). I don’t give up on relationships. I don’t shy away from difficult topics or challenges when I’ve obligated myself or chose to be under contract. (Mars in the 7th). I delve deeply into the occult science. I’m seen as a 24/7 psychic bridging the natural world to the supernatural world. Always on, ready to read. LOL (Scorpio on the 10th, Neptune in the 10th). I create, create, create. I’m an entrepreneur and will readily come up with new services, websites, service names, etc. I will lead when others will only follow. I get down to the depths of art and drama. Creative, role player. ;-)  (Leo on the 8th). I think, think, think. I delve into minutia. I take big and complex things a part to make them small and easily digestible. Mental sex?! I’ve been known to be  a tease ;P (Virgo stellium in the 8th). I don’t have any planets in Aries and only Scorpio Neptune!!

As usual, just skimming the surface.
Where’s your Mars? What Are You Tireless About? What Can You Go On Forever About?

These are your gifts, the energy that gets self-replenished — this is where your PASSION flies.

(Notes: We could include Pluto for Scorpio; however, I really wanted to stick to pure Mars (traditional signs/planets) for this chart reading trick™. Use whatever house system you want.)

ElsaElsa Board Question: Your first clue you are talking to a Pisces?

The question posed on the fabulous Elsa Elsa board was: Your first clue you are talking to a Pisces?

My response:

Ivana so true about Pisces speaking to themselves and to plants, vegetables, etc. when no one is around or when people are around but no one is talking to them. :-)

I also agree with those who said a gentle, soft, watery, ethereal, not-there *quiet* look. But some Pisces, especially female Pisces, can come across very strong and direct (perhaps they have Aries in Mercury or Venus or something like that).

I also agree that ALL the mutable signs have something to do with communicating and sharing knowledge: Gemini, Sag, Virgo, Pisces…

The Astrology of Re-Marriage & Children

The Astrology of Re-Marriage & Children

I was knitting and thinking of people in their 40’s (going through their Uranus Opp Uranus transit) with children, and I was imagining these women in a group knitting (a la Jane Austen Book Club) and then I had a thought about re-marriages…

If you would agree that a child is the product of a man (sperm) and a woman (egg) then that means the combination will show up in astrological signatures and it has with the limited research I’ve done on it.

If a Libran Mother has a child with a Leo Father and the child is Sagittarius, they will all generally get along (ego, life-force, basic personality). But what if the Libra remarries a Gemini?  They are likely to get along (even the Leo father would get along with the new husband) but what about the Gemini step-parent and the child of the Leo father?

The new parent will likely be at odds with the Sag child and this can have a heartbreaking negative effect on the child since they would have likely got along better with their biological parent but due to the break-up may have lost out on the chance to become fully functional within the original configuration.

Just something to consider when re-marrying with children.

Will your children, astrologically, get along with your new love?  And if they are naturally not a good fit, what can be done to make the connection a smoother one? Will the biological parent still have a large influence on the upbringing and connection with your child?

(My apologies for the hetero example.  I just thought it would make things a bit easier to explain from my point of view!).

Jupiter & Uranus Libra in the 9th House

It’s true that travel and education are so important for and to me, yet the best I seem to do so far is ride my bike & read books. Every time I travel, I think of something new.  And when I learn, other ideas spring forward.

Travel and education are stimulating adventures for me.  And while I somewhat kid about the bike and books, I haven’t done the kind of traveling (overseas) and education (getting a degree) that I’d like to do.

I think that’s partly because the way I want to do these things do not fit into the everyday life that I lead.  And having Libra on the 9th means that I like to travel with someone else and learn one-on-one. So it can be seen that long distance travel and higher education is a challenge for me.

But I work around these things…

And if you are ever wondering about my new fangled ideas, Jupiter-Uranus in the 9th are likely the culprits! ;-) Now it’s up to me to continue fine-tuning my Neptune-Saturn aspect and present innovations in a way that is easy to accept and understand while not being too normal, as to not be seen as an innovation.

Virgo, Scorpio, the 6th and 8th Houses and Body Modification / Weight Loss

Little known fact about me: I have a love of body modification (Virgo stellium in the 8th) through natural means.  It gives me so much joy to know the body can do such wonderful things, on its own, if we just work with it and give it a little non-invasive assistance. Natural body modification, to me, is anything we do to naturally affect our body (including hair) but is not likely permanent — it must be maintained by its owner. Weight loss, is one body modification that Virgo and Scorpio (the 6th and 8th houses) can delight in.

Quote: What do Astrologers Have in Common with Musicians, the Math Professions, and Crossword Puzzlers?

(While attending a Crosswords Puzzle Convention) Realizing what was the nature of the person who was really great. I don’t mean  good like me, at an amateur level, but someone whose really really great and overwhelming the two professional groups that seemed to dominate are musicians and people in the math professions. And by that I mean computer programmers, actuaries, auditors, and I’ve asked people, “What would you think Who would you think would be the best?” And they say oh, copy editors or history teachers or English teachers. But, no, it’s these two groups. And what I think it is, is  their ability to assimilate a lot of-of-of coded information, instantly. In other words, a piano player, like Jon Delfin… the greatest crossword puzzler of our time. He sits down, and he sees three staffs of music, and he can instantly play it. He’s takng all those notes, and he’s absorbed what they mean. instantaneously. And if you have that kind of a cast of mind… and then add to it a lot of, you know, a wide range of sort of ordinary and extraordinary information and if you can spell you’d be a really great crossword puzzler.   –  Former Public Editor (Ombudsman), Daniel Okrent in WordPlay

Many fabulous astrologers are musicians and work or have worked in math professions (computer programmers, etc.)!

Astrological Auto-pilot

I’m totally on astrological auto-pilot right now.
A couple of days ago I got the feeling of not wanting to go out. So I found a lovely replacement for a gig I was going to do today. And I thought to myself: I’ll stay in and catch up on domestic affairs.

Here’s my auto-pilot.
I didn’t notice, until today, that I have:

Sun in the 4th and Moon Square MC. It’s a great day/weekend to stay in!

Have you noticed yourself on auto-pilot?
This is when we talk about destiny vs. freewill.

In astrology, I’ve found freewill only exists if you are conscious to destiny.
Even then, you have limited freewill.

That’s my astrological philosophy anyway.

Update: May 7th

And I just found John Townley chatting about freewill vs. destiny

For all the positive free-will spin modern astrologers have put on astrology, it’s still a bit like the weather – everyone’s always talking about it, but nobody ever does anything about it. The planets deal their ever-changing cards, and we play the hand we’ve been dealt as best we can.

Of course, as with the weather, we can be smart enough to know to go inside when it rains, and that smacks a bit of free will, and it’s what most people use astrology for – to know when to batten down the hatches or when it’s a good day for the beach. But astrologically, we can do even more: we can actually go to where it isn’t raining on our lives – or at least change the form of precipitation and where it’s likely to hit us. To a limited extent, we can actually derail destiny, fool around with fate – if, indeed, astrology has any more effect on either than do common and often critical daily choices.
